Maximilian Davis sets the stage for a captivating journey, taking everyone back to where it all started for Ferragamo
Renowned fashion house Ferragamo is returning to Florence for a homecoming celebration of its new collection. Creative director Maximilian Davis, in collaboration with fashion photographer Juergen Teller, is presenting this season’s collection in a way that honours the city, exploring its rich history and exceptional art scene.
Palazzo Spini-Feroni, which dates back to the 13th century, showcases mediaeval Florentine architecture with a striking stone façade and a commanding crenellated tower overlooking the Arno River. Formerly the residence of Florentine noble families, it now houses Ferragamo headquarters and Ferragamo Museum, showcasing the blend of historical tradition and innovation in the fashion industry while preserving Florence’s cultural heritage. Other locations like Loggia dei Lanzi, Palazzo Corsini and Caffè Rivoire epitomise the coexistence of realities with vibrant histories and immortalised designs, marking the new collection with opulent yet effortless flair.

Davis introduces the new campaign as a shared collective experience for both the Ferragamo man and woman. This campaign highlights the authentic connection between the characters and the story. Legendary Factory Records designer Peter Saville and timeless beauty Maïa Hawad, among many icons, are showcasing the core of Ferragamo. However, Davis’ main influence, the stunning Raquel Zimmerman, takes the lead as he contrasts modernity and history through the model’s essence of modern Renaissance beauty.
This is displayed by Ferragamo’s New Line FW24 handbag in an easy shade of moss green, matching Zimmerman’s subtle yet refined sophistication. Meanwhile, the Hug Bag collection welcomes an addition to its family. Reinventing an iconic design with a modern touch, the Soft Hug Bag embraces a timeless allure to those looking to elevate their wardrobe with Ferragamo’s signature collection.

Together, an alluring journey through a city filled with artistic wonder provided insight into the collection, showcasing meticulous attention to detail, unwavering passion and profound wisdom. “I was at the heart of the ‘real’ Florence. It’s one thing to know of Florence’s history, and quite another to experience it so intimately,” Zimmerman emphatically reflected on her experience visiting Florence’s finest craftsmen, closely observing their work.

The relationship between the muse and the setting inspires Davis greatly for Ferragamo in a distinct yet gleaming light. There is a deep appreciation for modern Florence, as the city’s heart and soul are unmistakably embodied in Ferragamo’s collection, reflecting a resolute spirit tailored for the modern world.
