The FashionPhilippines mentorship programme brings 12 designers to Milan to present collections that weave heritage, sustainability and modern flair
Twelve Filipino designers have been selected to take part in the FashionPhilippines mentorship and exhibition programme in Milan, a landmark initiative to spotlight Philippine creativity on the global stage.
Organised by the Department of Trade and Industry through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), in partnership with the Philippine Fashion Coalition and supported by Fondazione Sozzani, LIT Fashion Consultancy, PTRI and Hotel Benilde, the programme prepares designers through creative planning sessions and one-on-one mentorship with international experts.

The designers will debut 15-piece collections at Fondazione Sozzani during Milan Fashion Week, with three pieces in each line crafted from Filipino Innovation Textiles—sustainable fabrics developed from abaca, banana, pineapple and bamboo fibres by the Philippine Textile Research Institute.
Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque said the initiative advances President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s directive to highlight Filipino talent while expanding opportunities for local brands in competitive markets. “By bringing our designers to one of the world’s fashion capitals and exposing them to mentorship from renowned industry leaders, we are opening opportunities for Filipino creativity to thrive globally,” she said.

The programme will culminate in a four-day mentorship and exhibition from September 22 to 25 in Milan under the guidance of Sara Sozzani Maino, creative director of Fondazione Sozzani.
