Tatler friends were treated to an exclusive fashion showcase where they explored the Italian fashion house’s latest Mambo and Palermo collections

No one epitomises the spirit of la dolce vita quite like Dolce & Gabbana. For nearly four decades, the fashion house has devoted itself to the carefree and vivacious spirit of Italy—seamlessly blending tradition with contemporary innovation to perfectly capture the art of living beautifully.

Who is the quintessential Dolce & Gabbana man or woman? They are unmistakably confident, sensual, and sophisticated—all the hallmarks explored in the brand’s fall-winter 2024 collections, aptly named Mambo and Palermo. To celebrate the arrival of these hotly-anticipated collections in stores, Tatler Singapore recently hosted a private fashion showcase at Dolce & Gabbana’s boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. With some of our most stylish friends in attendance, it was an evening of elegance with cocktails, canapés, and scintillating conversations on the agenda.

Branded content editor and Tatler’s resident fashion expert Adriel Chiun helmed the evening’s showcase, presenting nine of the best looks of the season as models strutted around the boutique.

“Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana believed in the power of femininity. Their ideal woman is unapologetic, brazen, and claims what is hers,” Chiun noted. Never one to shy away from sophisticated sex appeal, the design duo have made it a highlight of this season. The Mambo collection for women explores Dolce and Gabbana’s fascination with glamour by marrying the elegance of the 1940s and 1950s with a modern silhouette and the iconic imagery of American pin-up culture.

To kick off the showcase, Dolce & Gabbana’s unmistakable polka-dot motif took centre stage. The opening look featured a crisp white shirt paired with high-waisted polka-dot cotton shorts, followed by the second look: an elegant ruffled organza blouse tucked into a polka-dot pencil skirt. For a more casual, daytime vibe, Chiun suggested swapping the pencil skirt for a pair of cream palazzo pants or dark wash jeans.

And as the sun sets, the Mambo collection effortlessly evolves into an array of evening-ready looks. Continuing the bold polka-dot motif was a glamorous v-neck satin dress with draped detailing. That was just one of the several standout dresses presented that evening; among them, a sequined mesh dress that caresses and shapes the body in a sensuously peekaboo fashion.

Lace and leopard print are some of Dolce & Gabbana’s most iconic motifs, so naturally Tatler Singapore dazzled guests with two evening looks: a leopard-print georgette maxi dress with a racy slit detailing, and a black Chantilly lace slip dress. For all three looks, Chiun amped up the glam factor with gold accessories such as the Devotion belt and arm candies in the form of the classic Sicily bag and a sequin-embellished Dolce Box bag.

The gentlemen were not forgotten. Chiun presented three looks from the Palermo men’s collection, which is an ode to the capital city of Sicily. The collection represents the link between the Sicilian man’s world and the unspoiled nature of the island—heralding a season of effortless and carefree elegance for the gents.

The presentation was off to a strong start with two standout looks that epitomise relaxed comfort: Hawaiian shirt-and-shorts sets. Each set, evoking distinct holiday vibes, is distinguished by warm hues of sand, cream, and Black Sicily, complemented by elegant floral patterns. The final look, a floral silk twill shirt perfectly paired with cream cotton pants and a pair of loafers, perfectly encapsulated the holiday spirit, making it the quintessential piece for the modern, stylish D&G man.

Following the presentation, the event carried on into the evening with guests enjoying champagne and canapés while browsing through the collection. Chiun also offered guests styling tips and expert advice on selecting the ideal outfit for the season ahead.
