The exhibition showcases installations with reinterpretations of the iconic Lady Dior by various artists and includes a retrospective of the Dior Lady Art project
The iconic status of Dior’s Lady Dior bag is unmatched. Its legendary debut occurred in 1995 at the Grand Palais in Paris, where the First Lady of France Bernadette Chirac gifted Princess Diana a unique Dior bag, then known as the Chouchou. Later that year, the latter was photographed with a black patent leather version of the bag in Buenos Aires, cementing its association with her style. By 1996, it was officially named Lady Dior in her honour.
The Lady Dior remains a powerful symbol of the illustrious history of both the house and Monsieur Christian Dior. Instantly recognisable, it features a structured, boxy silhouette, signature Cannage topstitching, and rounded top handles adorned with charms spelling out “Dior”.
To commemorate the legacy and craftsmanship of the Lady Dior bag, Dior has unveiled the Lady Dior House exhibition for the first time in Singapore. This touring concept celebrates the iconic handbag by showcasing its numerous reinventions and storied history.

Spread across three key spaces and five rooms, the exhibition’s highlight is Lady Dior As Seen By, a showcase of sculptures and photographs by renowned international artists. Each piece offers a unique interpretation of the iconic Dior bag, reimagined through the lens of diverse creative perspectives. Singaporean artists Grace Tan, Genevieve Chua, and Samuel Xun were specially commissioned to contribute original artworks to this exhibition.
Another highlight of the exhibition is Dior Lady Art, a retrospective dedicated to the annual project that invites artists from around the world to transform the Lady Dior bag into collectible, one-of-a-kind works of art. From painters to sculptors and designers, these artists are given carte blanche to reimagine the iconic bag, each offering a unique perspective on its design.
The Singapore edition of Lady Dior House features 32 interpretations by global creatives, including contemporary American artist Daniel Arsham, Native American painter and sculptor Jeffery Gibson, and French-British artist Alice Anderson Studio.
The exhibition also includes a rainbow room of miniature Lady Dior bags and a retail section, in which select pieces from the sixth and eighth editions of Lady Dior Art are available for purchase or order.
Lady Dior House is now open at 5 Jiak Kim Street until August 11. Visits are by appointment only. Make your booking here.
