Chanel has held its fair share of fashion shows in exotic locations, but its upcoming 2023 Métiers d’Art presentation will take the French luxury brand to a whole new continent: Africa.

The maison has set its sights on Dakar, the capital city of Senegal, to unveil the new collection designed by Virginie Viard. From the teaser photos below, you can expect exquisitely woven tweed jackets and and pieces with lavish, intricate embroidery, both hallmarks of Chanel’s craft-centric Métiers d’Art collections.

The upcoming runway show, which will be showcased at the heart of the former Palais de Justice in Dakar, is just one part of Chanel’s three-day festival in Dakar this week; the fashion house will also turn the spotlight on the city’s creative scene, collaborating with local talents across the fields of music, film and art, as well as students.
