Louis Vuitton Men's Pre Spring 2023 collection is an ode to the former artistic director and style icon Virgil Abloh
Musicality, boyhood, and style all collide in Louis Vuitton's pre-spring 2023 collection. This particular showcase is marked by all things Virgil Abloh, the house's former artistic director for menswear and a beloved global fashion trailblazer. From his signature relaxed fit with a touch of luxe in craftsmanship and material to a musical-inspired set design, Virgil had already conceived of the main motif of the collection which was continued by his trusted creative team until fruition.

One of Virgil's legacies is ‘accessomorphosis.’ Coined by the style icon himself, the term is a portmanteau that connotes the transformation, often in the form of embedding, of an accessory into the clothing, which alters the garment in both form and function. A standout piece, this multi-pocket 'accessomorphed' jacket in white fluffy shearling with orange-red suede detailing oozes with coolness fit for an LV man.

Another signature recurring technique of Abloh is tie-dye. This technique found its popularity in the late 60s and early 70s when people demanded more colour in their wardrobes. Tie-dye manifests through spray paint colouration in turquoise on a fur gilet, a hip way to incorporate luxe street style.

The theme of boyhood and coming-of-age is perhaps most present in this ensemble--an oversized silhouette evoking the lines of garments 'yet to be grown into.' In a show note, the creative team described it as "loosely inspired by the youth-centric idea of adapted thrift store finds."
Alternative

Alternative suiting found itself expressed in a taupe shearling blouson with orange fur detailing. A "modernized retro" piece that is all the rage this season.

When Virgil introduced streetwear into couture, he didn't leave behind classic pieces but upgraded them to fit the brand's vision. This well-constructed suit is made cool with a splash of colour peeking through the panelling, hinting at a fun take on formalwear.
