With International Women’s Day coming up, we’re celebrating the leading women in Hong Kong this 2022

This week, Forbes released its annual rich list for Hong Kong, evaluating and ranking the richest billionaires in the city. Real estate billionaire, Chan Tan Ching-fen doubled her wealth to HK$3.9 billion after investing in the video-sharing platform, Kuaishou Technology, while smartphone manufacturers, Yeung Kin-man and Lam Wai-ying's wealth more than halved due to smartphone sales flatlining during the pandemic.  Here, we’re listing out the top ten richest women in Hong Kong.

10. Vivien Chen

Net worth: US$1.3 billion

World billionaire ranking: 2263

What she does: The younger daughter of the late billionaire, Chen Din Hwa, who founded Nan Fung Group, 62-year-old Vivien Chen resigned as chairman of the family’s Nan Fung Group in 2016 and remains as the honorary chairman. The mother of three is passionate about philanthropic work and her youngest daughter, Vanessa, is Nan Fung Group’s managing director. 

9. Zhuo Jun

Net worth: US$1.4 billion

World billionaire ranking: 2141

What she does: 56-year-old Zhuo Jun gained a controlling stake of Shenzhen Kinwong Electronics in November 2013 when her late husband, Shen Jitang, passed away. She’s currently a board member at the company while her brother, Zhuo Yong, leads as vice-chairman. 

8. Rita Tong Liu

Net worth: US$3.2 billion

World billionaire ranking: 956

What she does: 72-year-old Rita Tong Liu owns a number of Hong Kong's most prized real estate including entire floors in Grand Millennium Plaza, Shun Tak Centre, Far East Financial Centre and Lippo Centre. The billionaire entered the real estate business back in 1976, purchasing luxury flats, houses and parking spaces. 

7. Angela Leong On Kei

Net worth: US$3.4 billion

World billionaire ranking: 891

What she does: 60-year-old Angela Leong is the managing director and largest individual shareholder of SJM Holdings, who owns and operates 20 casinos in Macau. She is also the fourth wife of the late Stanley Ho. 

6. Chu Lam Yiu

Net worth: US$3.6 billion

World billionaire ranking: 831

What she does: Co-chairman of Huabao International Holdings, a fragrances and tobacco flavouring supplier, 51-year-old Chu Lam Yiu founded the company in 1996 and took it public in Hong Kong a decade later. She is also a member of the Fifth Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Committee. 

5. Pansy Ho

Net worth: US$4.3 billion

World billionaire ranking: 665

What she does: 59-year-old Hong Kong-Canadian Pansy Ho chairs Shun Tak Holdings, a property developer in Hong Kong and Macau that runs ferries between the two cities, and operates hotels. She is the daughter of Stanley Ho and his second wife, Lucina Laam King Ying.

4. Chan Tan Ching-fen

Net worth: US$8.8 billion

World billionaire ranking: 269

What she does: Wife of the late Chan Tseng-His, a property tycoon who founded the Hang Lung Group, Chan Tan Ching-fen now controls the largest shares in the group. Hang Lung is run by her eldest son, Ronnie Chan, while Ronnie’s son also leads as vice-chairperson of the company. 

3. Lam Wai-ying

Net worth: US$9.1 billion

World billionaire ranking: 256

What she does: The third richest woman in Hong Kong, Lam Wai-Ying and her husband, Yeung Kin-man own Biel Crystal Manufactory, which specialises in making screens for smartphones. Lam is the company’s chairman, holding 49 per cent of the business, while her husband holds 51 per cent.

2. Kwong Siu-hing

World billionaire ranking: 138

What she does: 91-year-old Kwong Siu-hing is the second richest woman in Hong Kong. The widow of Sun Hung Kai Properties co-founder, Kwok Tak-seng, who passed away in 1990, Kwong remains the biggest shareholder in the company.

World billionaire ranking: 131

What she does: Hong Kong’s richest woman, Zhou Qunfei is the chairman of Lens Technology, a smartphone supplier who supplies screens to Samsung, LG, Microsoft and Nokia. The self-made billionaire started working as a migrant factory worker as a teenager and started her own business selling watch parts in an apartment in Shenzhen back in 1993. 22 years after she founded Lens Technology, the company went public on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in March 2015.
