With decades of experience and a strong background in finance and marketing, Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso is set to lead the property giant into its next chapter
As Megaworld prepares for future growth, the property giant appointed a new president: its former chief operating officer, Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso.
Gutierrez-Alfonso officially replaces Andrew Tan after more than three decades. The Megaworld founder had been the company’s chair and president since it was incorporated in 1989.
Tan will continue to serve Megaworld as chairman of its Board of Directors.

At 61, the new female president of the firm brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Aside from serving as Megaworld’s COO, she also held positions of director, chairman of the board executive committee, and chairman of the management executive committee within the company.

Gutierrez-Alfonso has been with Megaworld since 1990 and serves as a director for several affiliate companies, including publicly-listed Global-Estate Resorts, Inc. and MREIT, Inc. She has an extensive background in real estate, finance, and marketing.

A cum laude graduate of Far Eastern University (FEU), Ms. Gutierrez-Alfonso earned a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Accounting in 1984. She is also a certified public accountant.
Her appointment comes as Megaworld plans to expand its leasing portfolio by 52 per cent to 3 million square metres by the end of the decade through new offices and lifestyle malls.
