Over the weekend, the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs held their 10th edition of FilipinaZ, featuring inclusive art experiences
The point in which women in a male-dominated world receive the recognition they deserve is a lofty aspiration. But it is slowly becoming a possibility thanks in no small part to the efforts of the Zonta Club of Makati & Environs. The weekend of October 21 to 22 celebrated the achievements of 5 extraordinary women who have succeeded in their respective fields and whose work is a testament to the power of art.
The Zonta Club, an organisation dedicated to advancing the status of women in society, marked this occasion with their 10th edition of FilipinaZ, a fundraiser and inclusive art experience.

Proceeds from this weekend’s festivities went towards the benefit of young women fleeing from abusive situations and scholarships for girls who would like to pursue careers in male-dominated fields.
The illustrious members of the Zonta Club came together to celebrate the achievements of 5 individuals who had dedicated their careers to service of the arts while uplifting the lives of Filipinos.
Among these women include Josie Natori for fashion, Anita Magsaysay-Ho for visual arts, Vicky Vizcarra Amalingan sales for crafts, Sara Soliven de Guzman for education, and Milagros Salgado Dayrit for fine jewellery.

Soliven de Guzman, chief operating officer of OB Montessori Center, tells Tatler, It was a privilege and honour for me to receive this award. It meant that my work was being taken seriously and that my work in this field mattered. Education is the foundation of all our citizens.
She offers some sage advice for future women educators: If teaching is your calling, I suggest you take it seriously and love what you are doing, just like in any other field. It's all in that pursuit.
