We talk to some of our Tatler friends to find out what they are most thankful and grateful for this 2022:

It’s Thanksgiving today! While it might not be a Philippine holiday or celebration, the sentiment attached to this tradition can resonate with many. Thanksgiving is a time of year to reflect on things that truly matter most to you; a time to think about who adds value to your life, and ultimately who or what makes you happy. After all, isn’t that what matters at the end of the day?

We ask seven Tatler friends to find out what has brought them joy, and what they are grateful for this year. Read on to find out what they have to say:

For this year, I am most thankful for the gift of life that is growing inside me. The gift of love nourishes me and enables me to nurture my child, Ben, our cherished ones and every angel sent our way. As always, every breath is a blessing so I am grateful for it!

I’m thankful for a lot of things, but I’m most grateful that finally we are seeing an end to this pandemic crisis and we are on our way to full recovery.

The pandemic made a significant impact on a lot of industries like tourism, business, transportation, and more. The past two years have been very difficult for a lot of people, so it feels nice to see people and families, especially children, out there living a normal life again.

There are indeed many things to be thankful for after two years of challenges with the pandemic. I am most thankful for my family's continuing good health. I am also thankful for the privilege of continuing my public service career in a new capacity at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. In this new role, I was given the task of advocating for financial inclusion for every Filipino to have access to financial services in reducing poverty and social inequality.

2022 has been such a pivotal year for me! As I turned 52 and had covid twice, I live more than ever in a state of grace and gratitude! I am so thankful for many things—the air I breathe, my life, and my growth despite the changes in ABS-CBN. My YouTube channel has been such a blessing—it’s been growing and inspiring many people, and has given me a new sense of creative excitement! I absolutely am so thankful for my son David, who is now 20. He is diagnosed to be in the autism spectrum, and I have seen him bloom this year to be such a confident, adorable, and conversant young man!

I am thankful for a life that continuously teaches me to be kinder, more generous with my time and gifts, and grateful for the many blessings that come my way every single day. Everything is a gift—the good times and the bad—and if you keep learning from the experiences, you grow into thankfulness.

Rissa Mananquil Trillo

Tatler Asia

I’ve been so busy the past years that it was only recently I found the time to get my first executive checkup. I know it’s something I should’ve never pushed back, but I’m so grateful for the good results. Aside from good health, I am forever grateful for an incredibly down-to-earth, intelligent, and very principled husband. I love that Paolo and I are blessed with happy and confident daughters, values-led co-parents and friends, exciting doors that have opened, and that we are surrounded by inspiring people whose dreams change the world and not just ours.
