Patrick Mouratoglou, the celebrated coach who guided Serena Williams through some of the most defining moments of her career, has officially launched Mouratoglou Academy Malaysia (MAM) at Epsom College Malaysia. The occasion marks a significant milestone for the region, as Malaysia is formally designated the Central Hub for Tennis & School in Asia.
The unveiling drew media, partners, student-athletes and regional tennis figures for an exclusive look into the Academy’s next chapter. The Malaysian campus already serves as a vital training base for emerging players across Southeast Asia and now stands as the Academy’s designated regional centre for high-performance tennis integrated with world-class British schooling.

Speaking at the press conference, Mouratoglou emphasised Malaysia’s strategic location and the strength of its educational landscape. He praised Epsom College Malaysia for its distinctive ability to bring elite sport and rigorous academics into a single environment. A major highlight of the announcement was the introduction of a RM1 million scholarship initiative designed to support rising talent from across the region while strengthening Malaysia’s pathway towards the 2027 SEA Games. The Academy also formally welcomed Johan Van Herck, former World No 65 and Belgian Davis Cup captain, as its new Technical Director.

The day’s programme at Epsom portrayed the ambition and dynamism of the Academy. On-court activations led by the Mouratoglou coaching team gave student-athletes a glimpse into the methodologies that underpin the Academy’s success. A private forum with Mouratoglou, a formal press briefing and the official launch ceremony further underscored the scale of its vision. The ecosystem continues to grow, with 24 tournaments held annually, including the Junior U14 ATF Grade A Southeast Asia Round on Epsom’s ITF-certified courts.

Mouratoglou Academy Malaysia was designed not as an extension of its French counterpart, but as a chapter conceived specifically for Asia. Its creation reflects shared values between Mouratoglou’s performance-driven philosophy and Epsom’s tradition of academic excellence, wellbeing and award-winning pastoral care. Since 2022, the Academy has welcomed student-athletes from Malaysia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, China and further afield, providing world-class coaching without the need for relocation to Europe. Senior French coaches remain permanently based in Malaysia to ensure training mirrors the standards and methodologies of the flagship Academy in Nice.

Located within Epsom’s expansive 50-acre purpose-built campus, Mouratoglou Academy Malaysia integrates elite training with British academic excellence through its Tennis and School Programme. The facility comprises 11 ITF-certified courts, including the only two indoor clay courts in Southeast Asia built to US and Australian Open specifications. Mouratoglou-certified coaches deliver a high-performance training experience framed by a fully integrated boarding and academic environment.
