Mamee Double-Decker scion and emart24 CEO Vuitton Pang looks back on his milestones and lessons, and shares what drives him forward
On Tatler's Asia's Most Influential list for the second year is Vuitton Pang, the Mamee-Double Decker scion behind the fastest-growing South Korean convenience store franchise in Malaysia, emart24. Recognised for his true grit in entrepreneurship, boldly launching the South Korean convenience store franchise when Malaysia was ravaged by the Covid-19 pandemic, he came out of the lockdown with an admirable story to tell. To date, there are 26 emart24 stores in Malaysia, with a target of opening 150 stores by the end of 2023.

Why do you do what you do?
I’m doing what I do to prove to myself that I am capable of thriving despite being out of my comfort zone. I would like to play my part in changing consumer behaviour and perception towards the convenience store industry here in Malaysia.

What’s the biggest milestone you wish to achieve both in your personal life and your professional one in 2023?
In my personal life, I hope to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. In my professional life, I hope to open 150 stores by the end of 2023.
What's the milestone you have achieved this year?
I’ve managed to take my company past its first-year mark despite the many challenges along the way.
