Vuitton Pang

CEO, Emart24 Holdings Sdn Bhd

The Mamee-Double Decker scion is behind the fastest-growing Korean convenience store franchise in Malaysia

Hailing from the Mamee-Double Decker empire, Vuitton Pang was exposed to the family business from an early age. Like his siblings, he was always expected to join the firm after gaining work experience elsewhere. After over 12 years of working at Mamee, Pang forged his own path to become a successful entrepreneur in his own right, bringing the Korean convenience store franchise emart24 to Malaysian consumers.

The Melaka-born Pang graduated with a double degree in Information Systems and Commerce from the University of Melbourne in 2004 and joined the family business as a business development manager in 2009 after three years with OSK Investment Bank Berhad as a management associate.

Responsible for setting up and managing the group investor relations team for Mamee, he helped to more than double the value of the company's market capitalisation and was instrumental in its 2011 privatisation. Despite all this success, Pang decided to eventually leave to carve his own entrepreneurial path after being introduced to emart24 during a business trip to Seoul.

Pang was quick to recognise the appeal of this popular Korean brand, which is already a household name in Korea, and went into the business with his partners with the aim of establishing 12 stores in 2021 and 300 stores across Malaysia within five years. The first store, two years in the making, opened in June 2021 in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur in the thick of the pandemic. To date, there are 26 stores in Malaysia, with a target of opening 150 stores by the end 2023.
