Morning—Take the train from Colombo to Rambukkana station

Your journey begins at Colombo’s train station, where the adventure unfolds. Start your morning with a walk to the railway station in the city centre and catch the first train to Rambukkana. Make sure you leave early as Sri Lankan trains are notoriously slow. The journey takes about three hours, but that’s part of the charm. The slower pace allows you to enjoy one of the most picturesque train journeys you’ll ever experience, passing temples, villages and breathtaking scenery.

The ride begins at Kandy’s small train station and lasts around seven hours, passing through tea plantations, forests, and mist-covered hills.
