Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur due to open until late 2026, but we’ve been given an exclusive first look at what to expect from the city’s newest heavyweight address

In case you haven’t noticed, the good people at Waldorf Astoria have been very, very busy. Last year, the group opened three properties: Waldorf Astoria Osaka in Japan, Waldorf Astoria  Costa Rica Punta Cacique, and Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan in China. Perhaps most notably, they reopened the original grand dame — Waldorf Astoria New York— following a stunning restoration.

This year, the legacy hotel group will make its debut in Malaysia with the opening of Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur at the heart of the city’s Golden Triangle.

Launching as an all-suite hotel, it will have 268 residential-style spaces with entry-level one-bedroom suites kicking off at a very generous 860 sq ft, stretching all the way to the palatial 8000 sq ft Waldorf Astoria Suite. Think floor-to-ceiling windows looking over the KL’s futuristic skyline paired with humble Malaysian heritage woven into the interior’s design language.

The hotel is setting itself up to be a serious dining destination. The food and beverage lineup has serious international star power, with restaurants developed alongside the likes of Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Garima Arora.

On the wellness front, the dedicated Waldorf Astoria Spa and its accompanying modern wellness centre will focus on highly personalised rituals and advanced therapies alongside proper facilities for movement and recovery.

It’s all very exciting, and though Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur isn’t due to open until late 2026, it has gone live for reservations.
