Hilton Petaling Jaya welcomes guests with elevated dining, stylish accommodations and tranquil spaces for both work and play
There are few names as synonymous with hospitality in the Klang Valley as Hilton Petaling Jaya. Having stood the test of time, the iconic hotel often evokes a sense of nostalgia. Now, Hilton Petaling Jaya welcomes guests with a refreshed look that marries contemporary elegance with timeless charm. The revamp gives the space an elevated sense of comfort and style—designed not only for those checking in for business, but also for those craving a sophisticated city escape.

We spent a night at the city hotel and were eager to experience how the space has been reimagined for a new era. From the moment we stepped into the refreshed lobby, it was clear that Hilton Petaling Jaya’s transformation wasn’t just cosmetic—it carried through to the ambience, service and thoughtfully reimagined spaces that cater to both business travellers and weekend staycationers alike.
Spaces to work and create

At the heart of the transformation are Hilton Petaling Jaya's newly reimagined executive working spaces. Sleek, light-filled, and thoughtfully designed, they cater to today’s modern professional who values both productivity and style. Here, work doesn’t feel like a task—it’s an experience, with refined surroundings that encourage collaboration as much as quiet focus.
Walking into the executive working zones, I immediately appreciated the crisp lighting and modern furniture. Desks are well-positioned near natural light, outlets are plentiful which is always a win and there are spots that feel private enough to focus yet not totally isolated. That’s not all, if you’re feeling peckish throughout the day, refreshments are readily available for you!
Rest, redefined

A night at the King Executive Room revealed just how much thought has gone into the revamp. The space felt calm and contemporary, with muted tones and clean lines that immediately set a relaxed tone. The bed plush and inviting, with crisp linens that made it easy to sink into rest mode. I appreciated the separate seating nook, which became my go-to spot for a teatime treat, while the work desk—equipped with good lighting and ample outlets—made it easy to catch up on emails. The bathroom felt freshly updated, with sleek marble finishes, a generous rain shower and a bathtub.

An urban oasis

And then there’s the pool—arguably Hilton Petaling Jaya's most enchanting feature. Surrounded by greenery, lounge chairs, some shaded spots with the sun illuminating, it felt like an escape from the city—I spent an hour there in the morning with a book in hand. Here, the bustle of Petaling Jaya fades into the background, replaced by stillness, sunlight and the luxury of unhurried time. It’s a reminder that even in the heart of the city, tranquility is never too far.
Dining destination
No stay is complete without indulging in the hotel’s culinary offerings. The revamped dining halls now feel like destinations in their own right, where global flavours and local favourites are served with a contemporary flourish. Think sumptuous spreads, live stations that add a touch of theatre and beautifully styled interiors that turn every meal into a social occasion.

Hilton PJ is known for its culinary offerings, and its three signature restaurants make dining here a journey in itself. At Genji, one of the city’s most celebrated Japanese restaurants, guests can savour artfully prepared sashimi, teppanyaki, and delicate omakase creations. Paya Serai continues to be a crowd favourite, with its lavish buffet spreads and local flavours that spotlight Malaysia’s culinary diversity. Meanwhile, Toh Yuen offers a refined Cantonese dining experience, where dim sum and specialty dishes are served in an elegant setting. Together, these venues ensure every meal at Hilton PJ feels like an occasion.

At Genji, the experience felt extra special—the chef prepared a specially curated Nara Omakase Kaiseki, a five-course menu crafted just for us. The meal unfolded like a quiet performance: starting with a crisp salada, followed by beautifully presented tsukuri, delicately grilled yakimono, a course of zushi and owan and finishing with a refreshing mizugashi dessert.
Breakfast at Paya Serai was a lively affair, with generous spreads where hot items stayed hot and cold dishes crisp; local rendang and nasi dagang were particular highlights. While Toh Yuen was intimate and classic, with excellent dim sum — the shao mai and har gao were among the best I’ve had locally, perfectly balanced and expertly prepared. Each restaurant delivered a distinctive experience, but collectively they underscored why Hilton PJ remains a culinary favourite among locals and travellers alike.
If you’re seeking a staycation that has a little bit of everything, Hilton PJ is the place to be. The dining experiences alone make a return visit more than worthwhile, while the refreshed rooms and serene poolside setting create a sense of calm just moments away from the city’s bustle.
