Hong Kong, and subsequently Hongkongers, don’t mess around when it comes to food. It’s a city with some of the pickiest palates in the world - whether it’s at a fine dining restaurant, a simple bowl of noodles at a local cha chaan tang, or grabbing a pre-flight bite at the airport, they expect nothing but the best.
This month, Mastercard opened its Taste by Priceless dining club at Hong Kong International Airport, marking the concept’s second destination in the world and its first in Asia-Pacific.

Located in Terminal 1 near Gate 40, the exclusive lounge offers travellers a dining experience centered on chef-curated seasonal menus that bridge local heritage with global influences. Think dishes like shiso and romaine salad, sweet corn and truffle soup, and 24-hour short rib with kombu bearnaise. I had the latter, and I highly recommend you do the same.
The space is split into two unique concepts: The Counter and The Cove.
The Counter is an omakase-style chef’s table where travellers can watch as chefs prepare beautifully-plated dishes, with the option to indulge in a multi-course tasting menu or - if you prefer to keep things light before your flight - order a la carte.
The Cove is a little more casual, with comfortable lounge seating to relax and enjoy refined tapas, like buttery pil pil prawns and miso-glazed cauliflower.
Throughout the menu are playful nods to Mastercard’s colour palette: a basket of juicy red and gold xiao long bao arrives still steaming; and the signature dessert by award-winning chef Rafael Cagali looks like a work of art - a glossy red and gold dome housing a delicate combination of pineapple, yogurt, coconut and cacao.

Even the signature cocktails lean into the Mastercard theme: Priceless Passion blends white rum with passion fruit and thyme, while the more floral Priceless Optimism mixes white rum with raspberry and hibiscus.
But if you prefer a classic pre-flight champagne, that's available too.
Mastercard's Taste by Priceless dining club at Hong Kong International Airport is accessible to World, World Elite, and World Legend cardholders within three hours of departure with no reservation required.
