The best way to travel like a local is to ask a local. In this series of travel guides, we ask creatives and insiders from our global community to show us their city, their way. This time, we look at Capri
Capri holds a special place in Feiping Chang's heart. It's been a longtime favourite summer destination for her and husband Lincoln Li, and it's where the pair got married in 2017. Who could forget the headline-making three-day wedding, in which the couple worked with the local government to restore the historic Villa Lysis to its former glory?
“We were happy to aid in the restoration of the villa as our gift to this island that we love so much, and we can’t wait for more people to visit this special place in the years to come," she told Tatler.
Beyond Villa Lysis, Chang has some excellent recommendations for the best restaurants, bars, shops and things to do in Capri.
"My favourite thing about Capri is that even though it’s a popular destination, it’s kept so authentic and true to its essence, its beauty and history. And Caprese people are so warm and kind," she says. "I also love the familiarity of it, in the 15 years or so I’ve been here it hasn’t changed too much, and there’s something to be said about that in a time where people are always craving for new things."

Da Paolino
The quintessential must visit restaurant in Capri, set in a beautiful lemon grove. It’s always my first dinner on every trip here, and we even had our welcome dinner for our wedding guests here 7 years ago. The scialatielli is the best!
La Fontelina
If you could only pick one beach club to go to in Capri, it has to be La Fontelina. Just an eternal classic with great view, food and vibes always and you can easily spend morning till sunset here.
Faraglioni and the grottos
The blue grotto, even though it’s a bit of a zoo, is worth at least one visit as it’s quite the experience going from the chaos outside and ducking low in a tiny boat to emerge into this magical cavern. And the famed faraglioni rocks are just synonymous with Capri.
La Conca del Sogno
Though not technically in Capri, it’s our absolute favorite restaurant in the region and a must visit. Absolutely divine food, especially the zucchini pasta, all the raw seafood and the salt baked sea bass. And it all turns into a huge party once the sgroppinos start being made!
Villa Lysis
This is the villa where we had our wedding seven years ago and it’s truly a special place full of history and beauty. It now often has local art exhibitions and musical performances, and is off the beaten path as it’s perched high up on the hills of Capri.
The Sea Gull and Eureka
The two best ceramic shops in Capri. If you want to bring home something truly Caprese, their ceramics would be my top choice.
Il Riccio
Not my favourite restaurant on the island, but it really is beautiful as a sea side lounge with the Dior Riviera transformation.
Anema e Core
A legendary club in Capri with amazing live music. Go in the wee hours on a weekend in the summer and it’s always the best time.
Buonocore Gelateria
It would be amiss if I didn’t mention Buonocore on this list, even though everyone already knows it. But the lesser known tidbit is to always ask for a brioche and put your gelato in it! So much better than the cones. And they also have the best coffee in Capri.
Via Tragara and all the beautiful paths
One of my favourite strolls in Capri that never gets old, is going from the town down Via Camerelle, then Via Tragara all the way to the Punta Tragara, then down to La Fontelina. You’ll see a bit of Capri all at once, from the shops to the private villas and bougainvillea covered walls, to the beautiful blue waters and Faraglioni.
Whether you’re staying in a hotel or on a boat, I think the best way to experience Capri is to walk everywhere, and really give it at least a few days or even a week so you’re not rushed and can really soak in the atmosphere.
