Known for its scenic trails, lush greenery, and captivating landscapes, Mt Manalmon in Bulacan promises an outdoor escape unlike any other. Located just an hour away from the city, Mt Manalmon is a perfect option for first-time hikers.

This mountain, which is 196 metres above sea level, boasts historical sites and nature spots that enchant visitors with rich heritage.

2. Masungi Georeserve, Rizal

The Masungi Georeserve in Rizal is home to massive limestone formations and hundreds of plant and animal species. Sisters Ann and Billie Dumaliang safeguard the place, which is a good spot for groups of friends who love trekking. Masungi offers two types of trails: Discovery Trail and Legacy Trail.

The Discovery Trail of Masungi Georeserve allows guests to visit the conservation area and experience the karst terrain up close. The trek lasts three to four hours but may be shortened or lengthened depending on the guest's preference and capacity.

On the other hand, the Legacy Trail immerses guests in the greater Masungi Geopark Project, where restoration efforts are currently underway. On this trail, guests are invited to participate in tree-planting activities. The experience lasts four to six hours.

Note from Masungi: A park ranger will guide guests through the trek and provide a deeper understanding of the area.

3. Tila Pilon Hills, Bulacan

The Tila Pilon Hills in Doña Remedios Trinidad (DRT) is a spot for hikers who are just starting. The hills provide a scenic space where guests can enjoy nature without exerting too much effort or energy.

4. Mt. Mapalad, Antipolo, Rizal

Mt Mapalad in Rizal is a beginner-friendly hiking spot in Barangay San Andres in Tanay, Rizal. It offers a stunning view of the Sierra Madre Mountain range, grasslands, and waterfalls. The mountain is 765 metres above sea level or about 2,509 feet.

5. Mt. Maculot, Batangas

If you wind up in the south, visit Mt Maculot in Batangas. This gem is popular among locals due to its panoramic views and accessible trails. Located only 92 km from Manila, this mountain features several rest stops where guests can get drinks and snacks. 

6. Mt. Makiling, Laguna

Legend has it that Mount Makiling in Laguna, Philippines, is named after a mythical diwata called Maria Makiling. According to local folklore, Maria Makiling is a beautiful and benevolent guardian of the mountain who wreaks havoc on anyone who disrespects and pollutes the natural environment. 

In addition to the stories surrounding the mountain, Makiling is famous among hikers and scientists thanks to its rich biodiversity. Located 1090 metres above sea level, its peak boasts a scenic view of waterfalls, hot springs, and more.

7. Mt Arayat, Pampanga
