The British luxury SUV brand collaborates with Wimbledon, bringing together a shared passion for sustainability and the “Best of British”
The world is by no means over the recent conclusion of this year’s Wimbledon championships, and so are we at Tatler. On July 11, Range Rover brought us to London, graciously welcoming us to the exclusive Range Rover Hospitality Suite to experience the exhilarating gentlemen’s semi-finals with tennis superstars Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev and Lorenzo Musetti. Tatler was the only publication invited from the Philippines, joining other journalists, celebrities and key opinion leaders from around the globe.
As the official vehicle partner of Wimbledon this year, the British luxury SUV brand transported players and other VIPs to the official venues throughout the tournament. The Range Rover fleet also chauffeured us to the All England Club to experience the latest plug-in electric hybrid models of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. At the venue, there were on-site charging facilities to maximise the use of Range Rover’s pure electric driving range of up to 75 miles. The charging hubs are powered by renewable electricity, a move that is aligned with the All England Club’s net zero operational emissions target by 2030.

The 45-minute drive from The Londoner in Leicester Square to the venue seemed swift as we were enjoying the scenic ride through the SUV’s panoramic sunroof, passing through some of London’s iconic landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park and the retail empire Harrods. The ride was made more enjoyable as we listened to soothing music through the innovative Meridian Signature Sound System, which features a pair of speakers in each of the four main headrests.
The media delegation arrived at the Range Rover Hospitality Suite just in time for champagne and cocktails on the terrace. The light and airy suite commands sweeping views of the courts and the sprawling gardens within the All England Club. These courts and gardens have undergone meticulous preparation in order to make them suitable for the much-anticipated tennis event of the year. For instance, the hanging baskets that are such a feature of All England Club’s landscape are planted with 18,000 petunias throughout the year, while the grass courts are reseeded every August of the previous year, through autumn, winter, spring and summer.

Overflowing libations were served from the bar, including Nyetimber Classic Cuvee, Nyetimber Rosé Multi-Vintage, Blanco Sobre Lías, Tinto Sobre Lías and Pink Diesel Rosé. An assortment of beers and ciders were also available, along with the Wimbledon staple, the gin-based fruity concoction Pimm’s No. 1 Summer Cup, which turned out to be a crowd favourite.

Present during the exclusive event were Australian actor Margot Robbie (who starred in the 2023 blockbuster movie, Barbie) and her husband Tom Ackerley, Academy Award-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya, Top Boy stars Jasmine Jobson and Kadeem Ramsay, Spanish actor Miguel Angel Silvestre, German model Moritz Hau, photographer Denis Cebulec, and social media sensations Aki Curtis, Darja Barannik, Paula Nata and Claire Rose Cliteur.

Former British top tennis player and now tennis coach and TV presenter Annabel Croft gave a brief talk on Wimbledon, the quintessentially British sporting highlight of the summer season. Croft also introduced some of the players and gave her analysis and fearless forecast of the championships.
Guests indulged in a delectable menu of British favourites such as the succulent Lake District lamb cutlets, St Austell Bay blue mussels and black tiger prawns with spinach and ricotta gnocchi, Wimbledon coronation sutton hoo chicken and poached chalk stream trout. While there are a variety of luscious sweets lining the dessert corner, the strawberries and cream—a popular dessert almost synonymous with Wimbledon—stood out. Each year, more than 38.4 tonnes of strawberries are picked and consumed during the tournament.

The action continued by the courtside as Range Rover invitees were led to their seats at Centre Court to watch two exciting games: Carlos Alcaraz vs Daniil Medvedev and Novak Djokovic vs Lorenzo Musetti. As described by Djokovic in the coffee table book, Wimbledon: The Pinnacle of Sport, the Centre Court is “the most sacred tennis court in the world”, having been the venue for some of the most memorable moments in tennis history. This includes Althea Gibson’s win in 1957 (she was the first woman of colour to win the ladies’ singles title); the epic Federer vs Nadal final of 2008; and the breathtaking Alcaraz-Djokovic final in 2023 and 2024. From the Centre Court’s comfortable spectator seating and innovative retractable roof to the stylish lounge and dining spots, it is indeed the epitome of a modern sporting stadium.

In true British fashion, guests were invited to a delightful afternoon tea back at the Range Rover Hospitality Suite to fuel up before watching the second game (Djokovic vs Musetti). The gentlemen’s singles semi-finals ended with Alcaraz and Djokovic advancing to the finals set two days later, with the former winning his second Wimbledon championship in a row on July 14.

Range Rover provided a luxurious backdrop for its esteemed guests, who flew in from different corners of the globe to witness this world-class tennis competition. It was a true showcase of the “Best of British” in every sense of the word.
