Filipino global tourism ambassador Vanessa Hudgens dropped by Manila House to promote her travel documentary The Awakening. The star, who worked with Tatler Asia’s Most Influential 2022 honouree Paul Soriano’s Ten17P films, pondered why embracing your roots matters.
“[It is really] just discovering this beautiful land and wonderful people and just really getting in touch with the piece of myself that has always been there but I’ve never known intimately,” she shares.
Hudgens only stayed in the Philippines for a week and vowed to return soon. “I can’t wait to come back! I feel like my time here has been incredible and special, but I need more time. The country is so big! It has so much to offer,” the actress reveals.

In March, classical pianist Cecile Licad collaborated with the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) for a benefit concert at the Samsung Performing Arts Theatre in Circuit Makati under the supervision of Stella Abrera, former ABT principal dancer and current artistic director of ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School.
“It’s wonderful to see time and time again how the arts can bring many people together for a common cause. In this story, Tatler delved deeper into what made Kasibulan the empowering, female-focused group that it is today. Driven by their fervent desire to continue making an impactful change in society, Imelda Cajipe-Endaya and her friends conceived Kasibulan in 1987 and formally registered it in 1989.
Its objectives are to provide members with opportunities for creativity, growth and self-sufficiency; to nurture and sustain sisterhood among its members; and to link its members to a larger community of artists and women’s groups here and abroad. Through the years, Kasibulan has been mounting exhibitions in major venues like UP Vargas Museum, GSIS Museum, Sining Kamalig, NCCA Gallery and CCP, among many others, as well as respected galleries and public spaces like Nayong Pilipino and Rizal Park. It also continues to conduct seminars and workshops in the grassroots communities in partnership with other NGOs and acclaimed speakers.
