Find out how you can take the lightning fast and super stylish Volvo EX30 for a spin this weekend
The Volvo EX30 has officially launched in Malaysia and if you’d like to try it out for yourself, Volvo Car Malaysia is hosting the EX30 Driving Experience that is open to the public from September 26 to 29. The event is open to the public and offers a unique opportunity to test drive Volvo’s smallest, yet most thrilling EV to date.
Taking place at KL Base (formerly the TUDM Air Base) in Sungai Besi, the three-day experience runs from 10 am to 6 pm, with eight test drive slots every hour. But here’s the catch: spots are limited, so if you’re eager to see what the EX30 can do, it’s a first-come, first-serve situation.

Small, fast, and electrifyingly fun

The EX30 may be Volvo’s smallest EV, but it’s designed to impress. It’s available in three variants in Malaysia: the Plus, Ultra and Ultra Twin Performance. Both the Plus and UItra models share a rear-wheel drive setup with a single electric motor generating 200 kW (268 hp) and 343 Nm of torque. This results in a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.3 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h. Equipped with a 69 kWh NMC battery, these models offer an impressive range of up to 476 kilometres.
For those craving even more power, the Ultra Twin Performance model kicks things up a notch. This all-wheel-drive version boasts a combined output of 315 kW (422 hp) and 543 Nm of torque. Zero to 100 km/h? A blistering 3.6 seconds. Even with that extra muscle, the range clocks in at a solid 450 kilometres.

Despite its performance credentials, the EX30 remains true to Volvo’s legacy of understated elegance and Scandinavian chic. It’s slightly smaller than the popular XC40, with dimensions of 4,233 mm in length and 1,838 mm in width. However, its compact size belies a spacious interior, thanks to a flat floor and clever storage solutions that make the most of its EV platform. The EX30 offers 315 litres of boot space, which can expand to 718 litres with the second-row split seats fully folded.
Inside, the EX30 showcases Volvo’s signature minimalist touch, and its cabin features sustainable materials throughout, contributing to the vehicle’s low carbon footprint. The centrepiece of the dash is a tablet-like 12.3-inch display, which handles most of the car’s controls. While there’s no instrument cluster or heads-up display, the intuitive layout still includes physical controls like indicator stalks and a gear selector on the steering column. As for tech, the infotainment system runs on Google with over-the-air updates, and it supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
One standout feature is the Harman Kardon Premium soundbar, integrated above the dashboard instead of individual door speakers. This not only enhances sound quality but frees up valuable door space for storage.

In terms of charging, the EX30 is equally impressive. It supports DC fast charging at up to 175 kW, meaning you can charge from 10-80 per cent in less than 30 minutes. For home charging, it offers an 11 kW onboard AC charger, with a full charge taking about 8 hours.
The EX30 is Volvo Car Malaysia’s latest fully electric vehicle to be assembled locally and is priced from RM188,888 for the EX30 Plus, RM208,888 for the EX30 Ultra, and RM228,888 for the EX30 Ultra Twin Performance. For more information about the Volvo EX30, please visit its website.
