Mercedes-Benz Singapore recently unveiled the highly anticipated car model at an exclusive event held at the Eureka Griffin Club in Singapore on October 30. This intimate evening soirée, co-hosted by Tatler Singapore and the automaker, brought together a select group of esteemed clients and automotive enthusiasts for a first look at the Mercedes-Maybach’s flagship electric SUV.
Nestled atop Cluny Hill, the Eureka Griffin Club provided a stunning backdrop for this luxurious event. As guests arrived, they were welcomed into the beautifully appointed 22,000 square foot space. The evening began with a cocktail reception where attendees enjoyed fine champagne and whisky while mingling and networking with fellow car lovers and industry insiders.
At the same time, they also had the opportunity to admire an exquisite collection of A. Lange & Söhne timepieces on display. Once guests were seated for dinner, Tatler Singapore’s executive editor Dana Koh warmly welcomed everyone before handing the microphone over to Marcel Perez, president and chief executive officer of Mercedes-Benz Singapore, to deliver the opening address. In his speech, he highlighted the significance of the EQS 680 SUV, sharing, “This is a milestone event for [Mercedes-Benz and Maybach]. We really want to redefine what luxury means in the age of sustainability.”
“As the first fully-electric Maybach, we can say [the EQS 680 SUV] not only looks good, it drives amazingly and it is a luxurious experience—all while having a lot of respect for the planet,” he added.
Following Perez’s address, it was time for a sumptuous three-course dinner that was meticulously curated to complement the luxurious theme of the event. For starters, guests tucked into house-cured salmon paired with Kristal caviar, followed by a creamy crustacean bisque aptly named Earth Meets Sea. For the main course, guests had the choice between a rich confit Wagyu beef short rib or the black cod. Accompanying each of the sumptuous courses was a selection of fine wines, Champagne, and whisky, including the Torraccia Di Presura Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, and Singleton 25 Year-Old Whisky.
After dinner, the anticipation was palpable as guests were ushered outside for the highlight of the evening: the unveiling of the EQS 680. There, they were greeted by the impressive sight of the new Mercedes-Maybach SUVs displayed against the backdrop of Eureka Griffin Club. Besides the EQS 680, a second model variant was also unveiled: the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 Night Series, which comes with dark chrome accents, sophisticated finishes, and exclusive 21-inch wheels.
The automotive enthusiasts gathered around the vehicles, eager to explore the luxurious features and innovative design up close. This was the perfect opportunity for them to discover firsthand all the exciting new features and exquisite craftsmanship of these SUVs—from the imposing black panel front, which carries the specific Maybach radiator grille, to the sleek lines. They also took turns to sit inside and experience the plush interiors firsthand, which boast a plethora of luxurious features, including a state-of-the-art MBUX Hyperscreen which spans the dashboard, the entertainment system in the back seats, Burmester 4D surround sound system, and ambient lighting themes designed for ultimate comfort and luxury.
Guests engaged with representatives from Cycle & Carriage, who provided insights into the SUVs’ advanced technologies and bespoke customisation options. The event continued well into the night as conversations flowed over champagne and dessert. As the night drew to a close, it was clear that this event not only marked a significant milestone for Mercedes-Maybach but also heralded the next chapter in luxury mobility.
