Superlative performance and comfort

Above Inside the luxurious EQS 680 SUV
The EQS SUV is driven by two electric motors in an all-wheel drive configuration, which delivers a maximum output of 484kW and torque of up to 955Nm. Thanks to this, the car completes the century sprint in just 4.4 seconds, and has an impressive agility that belies its size. What’s more, the EQS SUV goes for up to 635 kilometres on a single charge, so range is a non-issue—whether in the city or outside of it.
Performance and comfort go hand-in-hand, of course. To ensure the highest possible levels of the latter, Mercedes-Maybach has included a range of features aimed at both driver and passenger. The Airmatic suspension system with continuous adjustable damping, for a start, is standard in the EQS SUV. When paired with the Comfort driving programme, the car delivers an eminently plush ride for rear passengers.

At first glance, the car’s exterior features an upright Mercedes star on its hood and a striking front panel with the iconic Maybach radiator grille, for an unmistakable allusion to its Mercedes-Maybach lineage. Beyond just its ride, the EQS SUV achieves supreme comfort through myriad other elements inside: executive seats with bespoke massage functions; a 15-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system; fully customisable interior lighting through 253 individually-controllable LEDs and 64 selectable colours; a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter for pristine air quality and active scenting. These features—and more—all work in tandem to cocoon the occupants in luxurious comfort of the highest order.
A renewed focus on sustainability
All-electric vehicles represent the next stage in sustainable mobility thanks to their lower carbon footprint. The EQS 680 SUV takes this even further with various thoughtful touches. For a start, the car is the first from Mercedes-Maybach to use vegetable-tanned leather, which is produced using sustainable processes and materials. Tanning agents, for example, are derived from used coffee bean shells, while the water used is reused within a closed circuit, then processed and returned to nature. In much the same way, by-products of tanning are upcycled into products such as compostable flower pots, to further reduce the environmental impacts of production.
Elsewhere in the EQS 680 SUV, Mercedes-Maybach has included sustainably sourced materials wherever possible as well. Note the interior’s carpets, which are made from Econyl, a recycled nylon, as well as the secondary steel and recycled aluminium used in various components. The cherry on the cake? Production of the EQS SUV and its battery is net carbon-neutral at the Mercedes-Benz plants in Alabama, USA.
