Discover the exclusive showcase event by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia at NZ Wheels Bangsar, revealing the next generation of automotive excellence

On April 5, 2024, Tatler Malaysia and Mercedes-Benz Malaysia organised a night to showcase to guests Mercedes-Benz’s latest top-end vehicles, promising pure performance, breathtaking style and state-of-the-art engineering. 

Held at its NZ Wheels Bangsar showroom, the evening began as emcee Joey Ghazlan welcomed guests before passing the floor to Amanda Zhang, CEO & President of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia. Her address highlighted the brand’s recent accomplishments and its visionary trajectory. She closes the presentation with a focus on the remarkable features of the showcased models of the evening and how each vehicle encapsulates the pinnacle of luxury and performance.

After an enthralling product presentation, the evening unfolded into an engaging session, enveloped in the ambience of luxury and automotive excellence within the showroom. The cars featured include the just-launched Mercedes-AMG S 63 E PERFORMANCE, Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC, Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC, and the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE F1 Edition, along with previews of models such as the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC Sedan facelift, Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 4MATIC Coupé and the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC.

Those interested had the opportunity to engage with Mercedes representatives and delve deeper into the intricacies of the vehicles. This hands-on interaction allowed guests to appreciate the tactile and technical marvels of the cars, from the advanced MBUX systems to the meticulous leather upholstery.

The new Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC sets the tone in terms of luxury and exterior appeal. Akin to a luxury hotel on wheels, the car combines the strengths of the GLS with the highly attractive exclusivity of Maybach, and as such is the epitome of ultimate luxury. Its most distinguishing features are the vertical chrome bars and the “Maybach” lettering on the radiator grille, as well as the 23-inch Maybach multi-spoke forged wheels and Multibeam LED headlights. 

Inside, it boasts an opulent interior with extensive Nappa leather, including a diamond-pattern quilted seating. The vehicle is designed primarily for second-row passengers, offering features like Executive seats with leg rests, a refrigerated compartment, temperature-controlled cup holders, and massage functions. It also includes an advanced sound insulation package, the latest multimedia with MBUX entertainment system, and wireless device charging for both front and rear.

Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC

Meanwhile, the Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC is a seven-seater SUV designed for high comfort, stability, and handling. This model features updated exteriors such as a new radiator grille, prominent bumpers, and 22-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels, along with new colour options like Sodalite Blue Metallic and Manufaktur Alpine Grey Solid. 

Inside, the front boasts a multifunction sports steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather, with seats that offer a hot stone massage effect, heating, and ventilation. The dashboard and doors are lined with ARTICO man-made leather. The MBUX infotainment system has been upgraded to include customisable displays and modes for navigation, assistance, and service. Rear passengers enjoy multi-contour seats with massage and lumbar support, along with a Rear Comfort Package Plus that includes 11.6-inch touchscreens, USB slots with high-power charging, wireless charging, and rear climate control, ensuring both connectivity and comfort.

The Mercedes-AMG S 63 E PERFORMANCE is marketed as the most potent S-Class ever, blending luxury and high performance seamlessly. It features a 4.0 litre V8 biturbo engine combined with an AMG high-performance battery, achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h.

The interior showcases AMG seats and an AMG Performance steering wheel in black Nappa leather, complemented by Anthracite open-pore poplar wood trim. Noteworthy amenities include the AIR BALANCE package, active ambient lighting, and Burmester® 3D Surround Sound system alongside the MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment System. It is equipped with THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control for both front and rear passengers and an OLED central display. The innovative DIGITAL LIGHT headlamp technology enhances nighttime visibility and safety, and it is capable of adjusting light distribution and projecting road warnings.

The Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 4MATIC Coupé blends elements from the C-Class and E-Class into a sporty, elegant two-door vehicle. It features a distinctive design with a character line that emphasises its sporty silhouette, robust wheel arches, and a “shark nose” front that enhances its athletic appearance.

Inside, the CLE Coupé sports a standout 11.9-inch central display and luxurious ARTICO man-made leather throughout, including on the multifunction sports steering wheel and new climatised front seats with extensive adjustability. Rear passengers enjoy exceptional comfort with significantly increased headroom, legroom, and shoulder space, highlighted by a sophisticated Nappa leather loop release for the front seats. It is also the first Mercedes-Benz model in Malaysia to feature DIGITAL LIGHT with a projection function.

This segment offered a perfect complement to the evening, mirroring the same ethos of heritage and quality that Mercedes-Benz embodies. As the night drew to a close, guests mingled and exchanged thoughts on the transformative potential of these vehicles, not just on the road but in the automotive culture itself. It was an evening where luxury was not just seen and felt but lived.
