Last month, Tatler friends had the privilege of stepping into Forwardism, by BMW for an exclusive first peek. This unique showcase offered an immersive and interactive experience, embodying BMW’s Forwardism philosophy, seamlessly melding art with luxury. It reimagines the once unthinkable and pushes the boundaries of automotive excellence.

The setting for this captivating experience was the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, where guests were treated to an up-close encounter with the all-electric BMW i7 and an exploration of BMW’s vision for sustainability, all under one roof. The entire lineup of the 7 series from its first iteration to its latest was on display outside the space which showcased the impressive journey the car has experienced.

The evening commenced with a breathtaking entrance featuring a dazzling display of light and luxury, setting the tone for what promised to be an exciting evening. Inside the space, an exhibition on Forwardism, by BMW provided an in-depth understanding of this philosophy that seeks to bring about meaningful change, bridging the gap between aspiration and reality.

Guests had the privilege of getting up close and personal with the all-electric i7, a testament to its sleek and futuristic design. Representing luxury and innovation since 1977, the 7th generation of the 7 series reaffirms its position as a trailblazer, leading the way in electromobility, digitalisation, connectivity, and comfort. Everyone also had the chance to express themselves through the various BMW My Modes, including Sport, Efficient, Personal, Relax, Expressive, and Theatre.

The evening began with welcoming remarks from Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia. He shared insights into the Forwardism philosophy and highlighted the impressive milestone of delivering over 1,600 units of BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad EVs in just eight months, solidifying BMW’s status as the premium automaker in Malaysia for the past three years.

He also announced BMW’s excitement in leading Malaysia’s electrification journey. This was further underscored by an expanded strategic partnership with Gentari, a clean energy solutions provider, to make EV charging more accessible and convenient through EV Charge Go, a mobile EV charging service offering on-the-go DC fast-charging.
