Here are five cars that exude a special kind of flair with an adrenaline rush

What makes a car super? Is it a uniquely designed exterior? An extremely potent engine that allows the driver to break the sound barrier? Or is it in the name? Whatever criteria you may think of, there’s no arguing that what these celebrities keep in their garages lives up to that standard. From Aston Martins and Corvettes to Bugattis and Mustangs, Tatler goes through five iconic cars that celebrities aren’t afraid to flaunt and rev up.

Jerry Seinfeld

It’s no secret that Jerry Seinfeld has the most extensive Porsche collection in the world. While we can gawk at his 911s, 959 Sport, and 935 all day, the car that makes a statement is his 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Boasting a 327 V-8 engine, 250 horsepower, and an elegant build, this is the car that the comedian chose to drive the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, around in the television series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee—a fitting choice for such an honour.

Rowan Atkinson

A man with an intense passion for racing, Rowan Atkinson has a car collection like no other. Supercars, like the iconic Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead, the classic 1939 BMW 328, and plenty more grace his garage, but nothing stands out like his Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Acquired in 1984, just when he started getting some traction as an actor, this was Atkinson’s first car—and he’s had it ever since. He loves the car so much that it made a special appearance in Johnny English Strikes Again.

Awarded the ‘Best of Show’ title at the 2013 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este at Lake Como in Italy, the 1938 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic is one of the most attractive classics in the world. Only four were made between 1936 and 1938, and only three exist today. Its stunning art-deco design, paired with a powerful engine capable of reaching top speeds of 200 kph, makes it a symbol of classic elegance and power.

Jay Leno

With a massive garage containing over 181 cars and 160 motorcycles, Jay Leno has an unrivalled fleet of luxury, vintage, and supercars. It’s hard to choose from the dozens of Lamborghinis, Jaguars, McLarens, and Aston Martins, but master mechanic Paul Annunziata’s custom 1975 Plymouth Duster catches everyone’s eye. Donated to Leno before Annunziata passed away, he wanted to ensure his work would find a good home. Leno then insisted on buying the car from him, and the two donated the money to McPherson College. The supercharged car features a massive 426 Hemi engine with 425 horsepower.

Kevin Hart

Built for the 2000 movie Gone in 60 Seconds, the 1967 Ford Mustang GT500E ‘Eleanor’ stands out for its iconic muscle look, 427 V-8 engine with 650 horsepower, and unique Eleanor certification. Only three are in circulation, and this Mustang was recreated by Stealth Motorworks from the ground up, taking two years to build. Nothing in this car is in stock, and has been fully customised to suit Hart’s needs and wants.
