The crew behind ‘Queen of Tears’, this year’s most popular K-drama yet, pulled out all the stops and successfully made it a cinematic masterpiece
tvN’s highest-rated K-drama of all time, Queen of Tears, has been captivating fans with its stellar casting and mind-blowing performances, stunning designer wardrobe, surprising Easter eggs and cameos, and gripping storyline. Starring Hallyu heavyweights Kim Soo-hyun (as Baek Hyun-woo) and Kim Ji-won (Hong Hae-in), the K-drama centres on a married couple in a crisis and a potential second-chance romance.

While Queen of Tears has wrapped up with its finale, which aired on April 28, 2024, it continues to rank on Netflix’s Weekly Global Top 10 list and fans are eagerly waiting for the two special episodes. Sheraton Grande Walkerhill Hotel, Aston House
Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in’s elegant, fairytale wedding took place at the Aston House, part of the Sheraton Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul. Named after the famous mansion built in the 17th century in Birmingham, England, it’s a private hall with a private outdoor garden on the hillside with a breathtaking view of Seoul across the Han river (Hangang).
Korean Stone Art Museum
The Queens’ family mansion, where the chaebol (conglomerate) family as well as Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in resided, was shot at the Korean Stone Art Museum. Hailed as a popular tourist attraction, the museum is located in the beautiful and historic neighbourhood of Seongbuk-dong in Seoul, which boasts many other heritage spots including Bukhansan National Park, Gilsangsa Temple, and Bukhansan National Park.

The Hyundai Seoul
The make-believe Queens Group’s department store, where Baek Hyun-woo works, is located at The Hyundai Seoul, one of the most popular shopping malls in South Korea. Offering everything from luxury shopping to a wide array of F&B and even an indoor park, it’s a one-stop destination for all your shopping needs.
The Forum by Jaime Hayon
The scene where Queen of Tears lead antagonist Yoon Eun-sung attends the Hercyna party and meets Hong Hae-in for the first time in years was filmed at The Forum by Jaime Hayon. Located on the ninth floor of The Hyundai Daegu retail space, the indoor plaza is a 4,565-square-meter public cultural space that’s full of vibrant colours, art, and designer furniture.

Aqua Planet Ilsan
The momentous scene where Baek Hyun-woo proposed to Hong Hae-in was filmed at Aqua Planet Ilsan, a large aquarium located in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. It’s also where the couple would reunite in episode 15. Aqua Planet Ilsan is home to sea creatures such as jellyfish and sand tiger sharks, as well as zoo animals such as beavers, otters, and penguins.
Berlin Cathedral
First built in 1451, the beautiful Berlin Cathedral is the largest church in Berlin. It boasts Baroque and Neoclassicism architectural styles. It was also the location where Baek Hyun-woo desperately prayed for Hong Hae-in’s health and shared an emotional scene with her.

Botanischer Duftgarten
The heartwarming scene where Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in shared loving moments during their honeymoon was shot at Botanischer Duftgarten, a sprawling lavender garden in Lage, Germany. The location has almost 500,000 plants growing on an area of two hectares–over 80 of which are aromatic plants, from which essential oils are extracted, and around 200 “special” plants.
