Prabu Perdana's name is increasingly strong on the map of Indonesian fine arts
Bandung-based artist Prabu Perdana returns with a solo exhibition titled “Lanskap di antara Dua Latar” (Landscape between Two Backgrounds), which will run at Vice and Virtue Gallery from September 13 to October 13, 2025. This exhibition is not just a painting exhibition, but an invitation to reflect on how we view cities, nature, and the fast-paced modern life.
From Isolated Garden to the world stage
Prabu Perdana is no stranger to the contemporary art world. In 2020, he won the UOB Painting of the Year award for his work "Isolated Garden." Since then, his work has expanded to prestigious galleries in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Magelang, Singapore, Italy, and even the United States. His landscape-focused works have brought a new dimension to the Indonesian art world—unveiling the idea that landscape is not merely a static panorama, but a space for dialogue between reality and imagination.

Dialectics of city and nature
In his latest exhibition, Prabu presents landscapes with a more experimental visual approach. He combines two settings: the urban landscape he is familiar with—buildings, construction sites, streets—with the presence of colorful plants, flowers, twigs, and leaves in the foreground.
This contrast not only creates a captivating visual composition but also offers a reflection: how we live amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, filled with dilemmas, while longing for nature as a space of tranquility. Prabu, through his canvas, seems to convey that behind the concrete and glass, humans continue to seek harmony with nature.
UOB Indonesia's support for fine arts
Prabu's consistent work has received support from UOB Indonesia, a long-standing partner in the development of Indonesian fine arts. Maya Rizano, Head of Strategic Communications and Brand at UOB Indonesia, emphasized this commitment:
"As a financial institution, UOB Indonesia not only drives economic growth but also social development through art, education, and children. Since 2011, we have supported more than 750 Indonesian artists, including six UOB Southeast Asian Painting of the Year winners. Our support for the Prabu Perdana exhibition underscores our commitment to enriching the art ecosystem and inspiring a new generation."

Sound from the Gallery
Vice and Virtue Gallery, as the host of this exhibition, also sees Prabu Perdana's work as something more than just visual. "Prabu Perdana's work bridges the gap between everyday urban experiences and humanity's longing for nature. This exhibition provides a space for reflection that is relevant for today's urbanites, and we are proud to bring it to a wider audience," said a representative from Vice and Virtue Gallery.
The exhibition "Landscape between Two Backgrounds" is more than just a visual journey. It is an artistic statement about humanity's place amidst modernity. Through explorations of color and composition, Prabu reminds us that despite our fast-paced urban lifestyle, we still need space to return to our roots: nature, serenity, and balance.
