With a bold vision for further expansion, Patrick Grove is taking Amber Lounge beyond F1, crafting exclusive experiences for the elite at major global events
Patrick Grove, the visionary Singaporean-Australian entrepreneur behind Catcha Group, has made a profound impact in the realm of luxury hospitality through his acquisition of Amber Lounge, the world’s most exclusive afterparty brand. His investment back in 2017 stemmed from both personal enjoyment and keen business insight. As Grove puts it, “I initially invested in Amber Lounge because I had such a great time at their events and truly believed in what they offer. I also saw a lot of potential for taking things to the next level.”
What sets Amber Lounge apart is its unparalleled ability to curate an atmosphere of exclusivity. Unlike traditional nightlife venues, its carefully curated guest lists and bespoke luxury experiences ensure that attendees are surrounded by like-minded individuals. “It’s the trusted afterparty brand, you know it’s going to be exclusive,” says Grove. “It’s a great networking opportunity because of the audience it attracts, and that’s why everyone wants to attend.”

Under his leadership, Amber Lounge has broadened its offerings beyond Formula 1, including the launch of Amber Lounge Suites at Singapore National Stadium for Taylor Swift’s six-night takeover earlier this year.
As Singapore comes alive once again this race weekend, Amber Lounge is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a legendary Formula 1 afterparty taking place at The Fullerton Bay Hotel. Ahead of the festivities, Tatler Singapore sat down with Grove to learn about Amber Lounge’s expansion plans, its philanthropic efforts, and the future of luxury hospitality.
What motivated Catcha Group to acquire Amber Lounge, and how has the acquisition enhanced both brands?
I saw a lot of potential for taking things to the next level. I saw it as a great business opportunity, but also because I’m personally passionate about what it offers. I also had some experience working in the nightlife scene when I was in university, and this felt like a natural next step to take.

Since we acquired Amber Lounge in 2022, the brand has benefited from Catcha Group’s resources and network, which is helping to elevate its profile and expand its influence in new markets. The acquisition has also facilitated new strategic partnerships and collaborations for both brands, enhancing their respective offerings and market presence.
Amber Lounge has become synonymous with luxury and exclusivity. What do you believe are the key elements that contribute to its success as a business?
When you go to regular clubs and bars, you often don’t know what kind of experience or crowd you’ll encounter. But with Amber Lounge, you always know what to expect. It’s the trusted afterparty brand. You know it’s going to be exclusive, you’ll meet like-minded people. It focuses on offering a curated experience for its guests, and the fact that it is a pop-up event that takes place only once a year in Singapore—it makes people want to attend even more.

How has Amber Lounge evolved since its inception, and what strategies have you implemented to ensure its continued relevance in the luxury hospitality market?
While Amber Lounge is synonymous with exclusive afterparties at Formula 1, we are broadening its event portfolio. We now host a range of luxury experiences across various international locations, including yacht parties, VIP events, and bespoke celebrations. For example in Singapore, we launched Amber Lounge Suites with the Singapore National Stadium, taking our afterparties to pop concerts. This has helped us reach a wider audience while maintaining exclusivity.
Ultimately, we know what makes a good party and we’re good at executing that for our guests. We get the right entertainment, and performers, and curate the best luxury party experience that our guests appreciate.
Celebrities and influential figures are often seen at Amber Lounge events. What draws them to these exclusive afterparties, and how do you cater to their unique needs?
There’s an exclusivity and luxury that is associated with Amber Lounge, and that means it attracts a certain audience.

The events are meticulously curated to ensure privacy and a top-tier experience, which is highly appealing to those in the public eye.Amber Lounge events typically feature a blend of high-end entertainment, personalised service, and a carefully selected guest list, creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and prestigious. Such exclusivity and attention to detail make it a sought-after venue for those who want to enjoy themselves in a refined setting without the usual hustle and bustle.
Amber Lounge is known for giving back with its charity events. Can you elaborate on the initiatives and their impact on the community?
Amber Lounge’s audience is not just one that can enjoy and appreciate a good party, they also care about helping people. Many come to Amber Lounge to network and help others with business. Such camaraderie carries over to helping others on a more personal level.
For example, this year we’re supporting Race Against Dementia—a global charity founded by Sir Jackie to fund pioneering research into the prevention and cure of dementia. As a racing legend, Sir Jackie has a personal connection to the F1 racing community and started the charity for very personal reasons.
Ultimately, Amber Lounge is supporting the charity to raise funds that will go towards dementia research. In this way, Amber Lounge can do meaningful work, using its branding, networks, and resources to give back to society.

Looking ahead, what are your future plans for Amber Lounge, especially in terms of expanding its offerings and events?
The vision is to take Amber Lounge beyond F1—launching it at other great sporting spectacles such as the World Cup, as well as the NBA or NFL finals. Amber Lounge hosted 22 nights at the FIFA World Cup 2022 tournament in Doha, Qatar and it’s clear to all of us that there is a demand for this kind of luxury afterparty hospitality experience. In the next five years, we hope to see Amber Lounge events at all major F1 races, all major concerts in the region, and all major sporting events globally.
What challenges do you anticipate as Amber Lounge expands into new markets and events?
I would say one challenge we may encounter is maintaining brand integrity across different locations and different sporting events. To address this, we’ll implement rigorous quality control measures and closely monitor each venue to uphold our high standards of luxury and service.
Different markets also have unique preferences and cultural nuances. We have to be sure to conduct thorough market research and work with local experts to adapt our offerings appropriately while preserving the core elements that define Amber Lounge. This ensures that our events resonate with local audiences without compromising on our brand’s essence.

In your view, what is the future of luxury hospitality in the context of changing consumer preferences and technological advancements?
I’d say that the future of luxury hospitality is all about hyper-personalisation. With changing consumer preferences and technological advancements, guests are no longer just looking for high-end amenities; they want tailored experiences that cater specifically to their individual needs and desires.
Comfort and good service will also depend on our ability to use technology to enhance the personal touch. We will need to use automation and AI to streamline processes and manage routine tasks, but also to help us focus on what really matters—creating memorable, individualised experiences. AI is a massive game-changer, and a huge technological and investment wave to ride.
