Celebrating his birthday on October 26 is none other than the well-loved member Yuta of NCT 127. Here are some fun facts and trivia to know about the Japanese K-pop idol and singer

The birthday boy Yuta Nakamoto of NCT 127, or also known professionally as Yuta, has just turned 26 on the 26th of this month and fans everywhere are sharing their best wishes and tributes on social media in honour of the K-Pop idol.

A Japanese singer, dancer and radio personality who is based in South Korea, he is a member of popular boy group NCT and he debuted in the group's second sub-unit NCT 127 in 2016 and in NCT U in 2020. He is also one of two Japanese members of the boy band.

The band also shared on Twitter earlier this month that they would be dropping ‘Favorite'—a repackaged version of their third full-length album ‘Sticker’—which has just been released yesterday.

Ever since he made his first debut, the singer has captivated audiences and fans all around with his charismatic smile, unparalleled talent in performing and charming personality, but how much do you really know about the Japanese idol?

1. He was born in Osaka, Japan

The singer was born in Kadoma, Osaka—the land of takoyaki, okonomiyaki and all kinds of delectable Japanese street food and he was even given the nicknames Guardian of Takoyaki, Osaka Prince, Takoyaki Prince and Yakisoba Prince by his fans!

True to his nickname and hometown, his favourite foods include takoyaki and bento, and he loves getting the famous Osaka street foods or Kushikatsu from the markets. He also went to the Yashima Gakuen University International High School growing up and he is the second and only boy of three children.

2. He initially wanted to become a professional footballer

Growing up, Yuta wanted to become a professional football player instead of an idol and he played football from the ages of 5 to 16. While he enjoyed playing the game with his friends and peers, he eventually gave up that dream to pursue a career as a K-Pop idol in South Korea.

When asked “Which country is the best at soccer?” by a panel in the JTBC variety show "Abnormal Summit", Yuta even unabashedly ruled South Korea-based television personality Sam Okyere‘s home team Ghana out and picked Germany as his answer.

3. He had no background in singing or dancing before auditioning for SM

Yuta started his idol journey back in 2011 after watching TVXQ on television when he went to a bookstore one day and he decided to apply for multiple auditions to become a singer despite not having any background in singing or dancing.

He participated in a K-Pop audition programme called "Juice Winter Collection" the same year and he subsequently entered SM's first Global Audition the next year. He became one of three out of 10,000 participants in the international audition to successfully pass and make it to the next round. He was finally introduced as a member of SM Rookies, a pre-debut team of trainees under SM Entertainment, in December 2013 and was in training for three years and three months.

4. His ideal type of girl

Yuta's ideal type of girl as a love interest in his life is a girl who has short hair, is about 15 cm shorter than him, has empathy towards people and does not “act pretty”. He says that whenever he wants to flirt with a girl, he likes to become the “bad guy” to catch a girl's attention and show initiative in the situation.

Amusement park and adventure lovers take note because the singer also says that if he takes a girl out on a date, he’d take her to an amusement park like Disneyland or Lotte World!

5. He admires his dad more than anyone else

Speaking of inspirations and role models growing up, the person Yuta looked up to most in the world in his childhood was his father as he was a hardworking family man who worked diligently and tirelessly to provide for the family. "I would consider it a success if I become like my dad," Yuta says in an interview.

He also mentioned that he has even picked up various good habits from his father such as going to bed and waking up early!
