The highly anticipated animated feature ‘Forgotten Island’ brings Philippine mythical creatures and a heartfelt tale of friendship to the big screen this September

DreamWorks Animation is set to release its newest original film, Forgotten Island, a story deeply rooted in Filipino culture and mythology. Arriving in Philippine cinemas on 23 September, the film explores the journey of two lifelong friends, Jo and Raissa. Voiced by Grammy and Academy Award-winning artist H.E.R. and actress Liza Soberano respectively, the two high school graduates have been inseparable since grade school. As Raissa prepares to leave for college in America, the duo spends one final, unforgettable night celebrating their bond before their life paths diverge.

During their farewell celebration, the friends stumble upon a mysterious portal. This unexpected gateway transports them to Nakali, a fantastical island populated by the magical and mythological creatures they grew up hearing about from their Filipino families. While some of these folklore figures prove to be friendly allies, others pose a significant threat. Along their journey, Jo and Raissa are joined by a well-meaning but hapless weredog named Raww, voiced by Dave Franco, along with a small but mighty pack of new friends.

To find their way back home, the girls must confront the island’s most feared resident: The Dreaded Manananggal, voiced by Tony-winning icon Lea Salonga. The stakes for their escape are incredibly high. Jo and Raissa soon discover that the ultimate price for returning to their normal lives is the complete erasure of their shared memories. Faced with this devastating condition, the pair must race against time to escape Forgotten Island before they forget each other forever.
