Here’s what went down during Manny Jacinto’s fan meet in Manila for ‘Freakier Friday’

With his signature charm and a sprinkle of Tagalog, Filipino-Canadian Freakier Friday star Manny Jacinto won the hearts of fans during a press tour at the Mall of Asia in Pasay. “I’m trying to get that Tagalog out,” he says.

Freakier Friday, the long-awaited sequel to Disney’s beloved body-swap comedy, is now delighting audiences in cinemas across the Philippines.

Sana panoorin ninyo ang Freakier Friday, maraming salamat po, [Please watch Freakier Friday, thank you very much]” he says in Filipino. “Thank you for having me. It’s a fun one, so please watch. It’s a dream to be here right now. Mahal kita!”

Jacinto plays Eric Davis, a charming chef and newfound love interest. Meanwhile, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reprise their iconic roles as Tess and Anna Coleman, whose lives were once famously flipped upside down. Years have passed since their original identity-swap ordeal, and Anna is now a mother herself, with a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter.

As their blended family navigates the ups, downs and comedic chaos of merging households, Tess and Anna discover that lightning really can strike twice.

“It’s wild to me, I never thought I’d be here,” Jacinto says about his new role. “I called my parents to share the news—it was unbelievable. I was going to play a father for the first time and have an anak [daughter] for the first time, so at first, I didn’t quite know how to react. But I drew upon my parents’ experiences and those memories, and here we are. They’re my biggest fans. They would be here if they could, and this would mean the world to them.”
