As we approach the mid-year period soon, events are still going strong and there is plenty to do around the island

May began on a positive note for most of us considering how May 1 was a public holiday due to Labour Day. This month is particularly exciting for bird watchers and enthusiasts as Asia’s largest bird park, Bird Paradise, opens its doors on May 8. Visitors can look forward to over 3,500 species of birds in the park. For followers of the Hallyu wave, May is when the National Stadium welcomes the mega K-pop girl group, Blackpink.

1. Jurade de Saint-Emilion Singapore Gala Dinner 2023

What: Savour a specially curated five-course dinner by the Ritz Carlton at The Jurade de Saint-Émilion’s gala dinner in honour of the first edition of Vinexpo Asia. Socialise before the dinner at the cocktail reception before tucking in to a splendid dinner paired with 12 signature wines from across the region.

2. Blackpink’s “Born Pink” world tour

What: Blackpink will be in your area sometime soon. Mega K-pop girl group Blackpink will set Singapore on fire with their “Born Pink” world tour. The girl group’s most recent album of the same name debuted at number one on the Billboard Top 200 album sales. Belt your heart out to their hits including “Kill This Love”, “Lovesick Girls”, and “Typa Girl”.

3. Vinexpo Asia 2023

What: The internationally popular trade wine show is making its way to Singapore waters this May. Embark on an exquisite wine journey featuring wines from prominent makers including Albert Bichot, Château Climens, and Santa Rita. Various masterclasses, conferences, and panel discussions are also scheduled to make your interaction with wine more intimate. Find out how some of the most iconic wines are made and how to pair certain wines with Japanese home cooking.

4. Colour Pop!

What: Universal Studios Singapore’s Hollywood Boulevard is transformed into a colourist’s wonderland as part of the theme park’s homage to the Spring season. Visitors can catch their favourite characters from Sesame Street, DreamWorks’ Trolls, and more at interactive photo stations. Look out for vivid street art, delectable snacks, and exciting face painters as you navigate through a world of colour. Before heading off, meet Colourissa at The Rainbow Reunion Show and take part in creating the biggest rainbow yet.

5. Singapore HeritageFest

What: Get ready to immerse yourself in Singapore’s vibrant sports and transportation history at Singapore HeritageFest’s 20th edition. Look forward to a wide array of activities involving the island’s MRT stations, bus depot tours, and a look into Singapore’s various sporting institutions. Feeling extra sporty? Take part in sporting activities with your old PE attire at the National Museum.

6. Shaun the Sheep’s Circus Show

What: This must-see family show is sure to delight your kids with its gravity defying stunts and circus acts. The internationally acclaimed Australian circus troupe Aardman brings the popular children’s show Shaun the Sheep to the stage this May. Look out for exciting performances by popular characters complete with bowling pins and aerial flyers.

7. Singapore Cocktail Festival 2023

What: The Singapore Cocktail Festival’s anticipated Festival Village is back for its ninth run this May. Artisanal spirit tastings and insightful sessions await cocktail enthusiasts. Headlining bars this year include Penicillin, Analogue, and Stay Gold Flamingo. Look out too, for world-famous mixologists from Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, India and Australia
