The camera pans in very slowly and Abigail (Dolly de Leon) projects a long, violent stare; Carl (Harris Dickinson) runs through the field and the screen blacks out—this marks the end of Ruben Östlund’s Palme d'Or-winning Triangle of Sadness. Some say that its charm lies in the black comedy, some prefer to stick with the social commentary, but for many others, it was De Leon who truly embodied the film’s message.

1. NOMINATION: Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture

De Leon rattled the Philippines when she made her Golden Globes debut in January. Nominated under the Best Supporting Actress category, the star competed against Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All at Once), and Carey Mulligan (She Said).
Although she did not take home the coveted award, De Leon was nonetheless grateful for such recognition. "It was a night I won't forget," she says in an interview.

2. NOMINATION: Satellite Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role
For her role as Abigail, De Leon also received a nod from the Satellite Award. Nominated under the Best Actress in a Supporting Role category, De Leon competed against Jean Smart (Babylon), Angela Bassett (Blank Panther: Wakanda Forever), Kerry Condon (Banshees of Inisherin), Claire Foy (Women Talking), and Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All at Once).

The Satellite Award is given annually by the International Press Academy and is held every year at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. The awards night will happen on March 3.
3. WIN: Gawad Urian Award for Best Supporting Actress
Gawad Urian is an annual film award held since 1977. In 2022, its slate of nominees under the Best Supporting Actress category included De Leon for her role in Lav Diaz's Historya ni Ha (History of Ha) starring John Lloyd Cruz who portrayed the character of Hernando Alamada.

For her role as Abigail, De Leon was recognised by Guldbagge award as the Best Actress in a Supporting Role again for Triangle of Sadness. She bested Carla Seh (Stammisar), Liv Mjönes (Tack for the Last Time), and Marika Lindström (Burn All my Letters). The Guldbagge Awards is Sweden's leading film award-giving body.
5. NOMINATION: National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress

De Leon was also nominated at the National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress. The coveted title was eventually given to Kerry Condon for her role in The Banshees of Inisherin.

The LA Film Critics Association, which is composed of professional film critics from various print and digital news media around Los Angeles, had given De Leon the Best Supporting Performance recognition for her breakout role in Triangle of Sadness. The actress was honoured alongside Everything Everywhere All at Once actor Ke Huy Quan who also won the male counterpart of the same category.
"This is everything to me as a minority within a minority," she said in her acceptance speech. "Thank you to the Los Angeles Film Critics Association for celebrating diversity and inclusion by welcoming actors like me with open arms."
