Dolly de Leon, known for her breakout role in ‘Triangle of Sadness’, stars alongside Nicole Kidman in the much-anticipated second season of Hulu’s thriller drama

Dolly de Leon, the first Filipina to receive a Golden Globe nomination, is set to make waves once again—this time as part of Hulu’s psychological drama Nine Perfect Strangers. The much-anticipated second season, premiering on May 21, will see de Leon starring alongside Nicole Kidman, Henry Golding, Christine Baranski, and an ensemble cast navigating the eerie confines of a high-end wellness retreat in the Austrian Alps.

Best known for her breakout role in Ruben Östlund’s Triangle of Sadness, where she played the resourceful Abigail, de Leon’s ascent in Hollywood has been marked by performances that balance sharp wit and quiet ferocity. In Nine Perfect Strangers, she portrays Agnes, one of nine guests lured into the enigmatic world of Masha Dmitrichenko (Kidman), a self-styled guru promising transformation—but at what cost?

The series, based on Liane Moriarty’s bestselling novel, first premiered in 2021, with Kidman leading an all-star cast through a twisted retreat at Tranquillum House. Season two shifts the setting to the Alps and introduces an entirely new group of strangers, each carrying secrets that Masha is determined to unearth.

At the start of the year, de Leon had once expressed enthusiasm about working with Kidman and the creative team, including director Jonathan Levine and writer Rachel Shukert.

De Leon’s career has been on an upward trajectory since Triangle of Sadness propelled her to international acclaim, earning her nominations at the Golden Globes and BAFTAs. She recently starred in Between the Temples and Ghostlight, both of which debuted at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. With her role in Nine Perfect Strangers, she continues to carve a space for herself in Hollywood, bringing a distinctive presence to a genre that thrives on psychological tension and narrative unpredictability.

The new season of Nine Perfect Strangers will release its first two episodes on May 21, followed by weekly installments.
