The upcoming Netflix series will be centred on the origins of the fan-favourite Bridgerton royal, Queen Charlotte
If it’s not enough that there are still two, binge-worthy Bridgerton seasons in the works, then fans of the hit Netflix series will certainly delight over the news that a prequel is in the pipeline, too.
The spin-off series will be centred on a young Queen Charlotte (currently portrayed by Guyanese-British actress Golda Rosheuvel), following her rise as a royal and her marriage to King George III, and how it led to a pivotal moment in Bridgerton’s England.
Besides the Queen, the prequel will reveal the origin stories of two other fan favourite characters: Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) and Lady Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell).

A Star-Studded Cast
As to who will star in the show, names have already been announced. India Ria Amarteifio, a 20-year-old British actress, takes the lead as a young Queen Charlotte, while Arsema Thomas will make her TV debut as a young Lady Danbury. Rosheuvel, Andoh and Gemmell will also reprise their roles.
The young King George will be played by Corey Mylchreest, who’s also starring in the upcoming Netflix adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman. His megalomanic mother, Princess Augusta, who seems to be the main antagonist of the upcoming prequel, will be portrayed by Michelle Fairley—a casting decision that will be welcomed by those who enjoyed the actress in her role as Lady Catelyn Stark in Game of Thrones.
