Kim Kardashian in jaw-dropping emeralds, Radhika Merchant giving us bridal goals…you’ve seen it all on social media. But who are the people behind the scenes who have contributed to making the Ambani wedding ‘the wedding of the century’?
The Ambani wedding, which has been dubbed by some as “the wedding of the century”, took place in Mumbai, India, this weekend. As expected, India’s richest family left no stone unturned to make Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s nuptials an affair to remember.
Indeed, all eyes were on Mumbai, where the extravagant details of the event played out, with every moment of it captured and scrutinised on social media. From Kim Kardashian’s jaw-dropping emeralds to Bollywood celebs wearing Anant Ambani’s gift on their wrists—limited-edition Audemars Piguet watches.
But behind the lavishness on display, there was a team of stylists, photographers, make-up artists, chefs and many others, who worked tirelessly to make this event a success. Here, Tatler shines a spotlight on the behind-the-scenes teams of the Ambani wedding.

Rhea Kapoor
Producer and stylist Rhea Kapoor is part of an illustrious Bollywood family; her father is the famous actor Anil Kapoor.
The younger Kapoor has established herself as the go-to stylist to the stars in India. Her most recent success has been curating the multiple looks for Radhika Merchant, from the pre-wedding celebrations (how gorgeous was the Robert Wun “love letter” gown?) in the lead-up to the wedding day and the post-wedding looks.
For the wedding outfits, Kapoor struck a beautiful balance between creating a personalised look and feel for the bride, while still paying homage to the family’s Gujarati traditions. Our favourite is the lehenga Merchant wore for her saat phera, a red-and-ivory outfit by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, which follows the Gujarati tradition of brides wearing red and white at their wedding.

Designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, who co-own the label Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla (the Ambanis hold a 51 per cent stake in the brand), are some of India’s most respected fashion designers.
At the main event of the Ambani wedding, which took place on July 12, they dressed not just the bride, but most of the other members of the Ambani family. Anant, Nita, Isha Ambani and Shloka Mehta looked the picture of elegance in colour-coordinated attire; even the children of the family wore outfits by the designers, done with the same meticulous craftsmanship, of course.

Another designer that the Ambani family have turned to time and again is Manish Malhotra. The designer, who shot to fame through his costume designs for Bollywood movies in the 1990s, has designed not just several of the outfits at the wedding events, but also quite a few of the jewels that the Ambanis wore to the wedding.
He also curated the glamorous lehengas that Kim and Khloé Kardashian wore to the main Ambani wedding event on July 12. The Ambani-owned company, Reliance Brands, has a 40 per cent stake in Malhotra’s fashion brand MM Styles.
Joseph Radhik
The drop-dead gorgeous photos of Radhika Merchant, Isha Ambani and the rest of the family during various pre-wedding celebrations had been doing the rounds on social media even before this past weekend.
One of the teams responsible for these photos is Stories by Joseph Radhik, a wedding photography company owned by photographer Joseph Radhik. Their work has been featured on Netflix and countless lifestyle magazines, and the team has worked on several celebrity weddings, such as the nuptials of Indian cricket star Virat Kohli to actress Anushka Sharma.
Chefs Virgilio Martínez and Avinash Martins
Peruvian chef Virgilio Martínez, who is behind The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 winner Central, of Lima, and Ichu Peru in Hong Kong, teamed up with Goan chef Avinash Martins to curate an extravagant feast for wedding guests this past weekend.
Martínez, known for his expertise in Peruvian cuisine, shifted gears to create a vegetarian Gujarati menu for the wedding; he included some of his native country’s ingredients, like Peruvian corn. Martins, meanwhile, highlighted Goan fare, a lesser-known variety of Indian cuisine.
