Hong Kong-born, London-based fashion designer Robert Wun hit the highest echelon of the couture world in 2023 when he became the first designer from Hong Kong ever to show at Haute Couture Week in Paris, as a guest member of The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode. The closing show of the event, it was created with the support of Chanel’s president of fashion Bruno Pavlovsky, after Wun was crowned the Grand Prix Winner at the Andam Fashion Awards 2022. In 2022, he also had his first solo museum exhibition, Robert Wun: Between Reality and Fantasy, at Scad Fash museum in the US, featuring more than 40 of his pieces.

After being discovered by Joyce Boutique for his graduate collection in 2012, Wun launched his label two years later, initially just making custom orders. He has managed to break through with clothes that are startlingly avant garde, with a sculptural approach, innovative materials and attention grabbing silhouettes, taking his inspiration from movies and nature. A committed champion of inclusivity, he says that his designs are all about escapism, futurism and feminism.

A firm favourite of the famous and fabulous, his creations have been spotted on a startling range of celebrities, including Beyoncé, Solange, Celine Dion, Lady Gaga, Adele, Cardi B, Florence Pugh, Billy Porter, Awkwafina, Björk and Doja Cat. Has worked with the Royal Ballet and on the two Hunger Games: Mockingjay films (2014-15). It surely can’t be too long before one of Europe’s luxury powerhouses comes calling.

“No matter how many years go by, the impact [of the clothes] will stay the same because it’s powerful, and an honest reflection of its creator.”
