It’s definite that there came a time you envied other countries for having Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience exhibits. But now, you don’t have to.

The much-awaited exhibition is finally closer to home as it makes its first Southeast Asian launch in Singapore. Starting this month, the expansive and award-winning 360-degree immersive premiere which takes you on an out-of-this-world digital art experience paired with sure-shot Instagrammable photos opens at The Forum Level B1 of Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).

Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience was initially in the works in 2016 and it began to tour multiple cities in 2017, which we have the entertainment producer Exhibition Hub and the leading entertainment discovery platform Fever to thank for. H&B, a next-generation activation and engagement company partnered with the two and the premium lifestyle destination resort RWS, to bring in the highly anticipated exhibit to the Lion City.

In a space with over 17,000 square feet, characterised by various individualistic galleries, and more than 300 of Vincent Van Gogh’s sketches, drawings, and paintings—visitors are welcomed to an immersive experience of the painter’s world and life work through floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall large scale digital projections. One of the highlights of this exhibition is the expansive central projection area where the latter is most profound, creating a mesmerising atmosphere where guests can indulge and absorb the amazing works of the beloved and influential Dutch artist at every corner.
But it gets better than that. The Singapore edition is promised to house the inaugural debut of two unique segments. Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience at RWS will showcase the traditional Japanese art style of woodblock stamps and prints, which is globally a first.

The ancient art of Japanese wood blocking rose to fame in France during the 1880s wherein Van Gogh saw the impact that the oriental art form had on the western art scene. He developed an interest in the Japonisme movement, strongly inspiring his artwork style such as the Geisha. With this, there will be an authentic matcha tea ceremony on display, with explorers being able to enjoy a taste of fresh matcha right after as a homage to Japanese culture.
One out of many to look out for, the Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience boasts to bring this encounter that focuses on Japanese hospitality and art form of the process, for the first time worldwide.
Moving on to the one-of-a-kind virtual reality (VR) experience exclusive to the exhibit, an unforgettable 10-minute journey titled A Day in the Life of an Artist awaits the visitors: Van Gogh’s well-loved works are revealed, including Vincent’s Bedroom at Aries and Starry Night Over the Rhone River.

"Our focus on total immersion starts from the moment you enter and stays with you long after you leave," said Mario Iacampo, CEO and Creative Director for Exhibition Hub. "This wholly new way to experience art provides our guests with a deeper appreciation of Van Gogh’s genius in a truly transcendent environment."

Additionally, in the drawing studio, guests' works become a part of the show, where they can create artwork themselves, scan it onsite, and transform them into a larger-than-life digital representation which they can use as their photo backdrop.
After all that fun in the world of art and through Van Gogh's eyes, visitors can enjoy a whole suit of add-on experiences as well—a thematic café that offers Janice Wong's range of pastries and sweet treats, exclusive exhibition merchandise, and a range of activities and programmes like signature yoga classes to art jamming sessions and many more.
Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience is open to the public since March 1, 2023. Visit www.vangoghexpo.com/singapore for more information.
