After a solid run last year, Theatre Titas is bringing back Juan Ekis’s ‘Twenty Questions’ for three days this April
Modern cult classic Twenty Questions by playwright and poet Juan Ekis is back! After the sold-out shows in 2023 for Theatre Titas’ 20th anniversary, it returns this year on April 26 to 28 at 8pm (with a 3pm matinee show on Sunday) at The Mirror Studio Theatre in Barangay Poblacion, Makati.
It is a one-act play in which college friends Jigs and Yumi (portrayed by Jel Tarun and Isabelle Prado, respectively) are locked in a hotel room for 24 hours as part of an annual barkada [friend] tradition. To pass the time, they play a game of twenty questions, which forces them to open up to each other and talk about their views on love, life, and sex.
First penned in 2003, director Cheese Mendez explores in Twenty Questions how ideas about relationships written two decades ago might still resonate with today’s audience and their points of view. He aims to answer the question: How do today’s youth understand love?

In an era when falling in love has become a myth, we still need plays that remind us it is real.
“Twenty Questions now has a life of its own. Sometimes, when I watch it, I ask myself, ‘Did I really write this?’ And it being sold out during the last run shows how it is still relevant to today’s youth,” shares Juan Ekis. “In an era when falling in love has become a myth, we still need plays that remind us it is real. I thank Cheese and the Titas for telling this story again in a way that resonates with today’s generation.”
