Lala Curio founder Laura Cheung unveiled her most theatrical installation yet—a dreamy collaboration celebrating the art of gathering
Laura Cheung knows how to create magic, and her latest endeavour at The Peninsula Hong Kong proves it once again. The Lala Curio founder transformed her newly opened flagship boutique into the Moonlit Room this August, unveiling a collaboration with Singapore-based Jessica Wong Studio that had Hong Kong's design cognoscenti enchanted.
The evening's star was the Xuan table—a transformative piece of furniture that Jessica Wong Studio originally created in 2016, inspired by the historic Baxian table that generations of families have gathered around. Cheung, never one for understated presentations, framed the table within her signature dreamscape aesthetic, creating the perfect backdrop for the evening.

The installation coincided with the launch of the mid-Autumn "Moonlight Harmony" collection, featuring handpainted cork Mahjong mats, bespoke lacquer tea trays and moonstone napkin rings—each piece a celebration of craftsmanship reimagined for today's culturally attuned collector. "The Moonlit Series was born from a shared love for ancient rituals of togetherness—Mahjong, mooncakes and family meals under lanterns. It's not just a setting, but a moment—where craftsmanship becomes storytelling and design becomes memory," Cheung said. Tatler was there, and we'd say: mission accomplished.
