The LACMA lunch, hosted by the museum’s global ambassadors Ada Wang Cheng and Hermes Li, raised a toast to the spirit of collaboration through the arts

On March 27, Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s (LACMA) global ambassadors Ada Wang Cheng and Hermes Li hosted an intimate luncheon at Xin Rong Ji, bringing together fellow global ambassadors and distinguished patrons of the museum.

The gathering celebrated the upcoming David Geffen Galleries, LACMA’s highly anticipated new home for its permanent collection, set to debut in April 2026.

The afternoon began with a warm welcome from Celia Yang, LACMA’s head of director’s strategic initiatives in Asia, who introduced the museum's vision for the future. Co-chairs of the global ambassadors, princess Alia Al-Senussi and Sophia Cohen, followed with their own remarks, setting the tone for the event’s focus on collaboration and cultural exchange.

The highlight of the luncheon was an insightful dialogue between  Al-Senussi and Stephen Little, Florence and Harry Sloan curator and department head of Chinese art at LACMA. Their conversation shed light on the museum’s curatorial approach to the David Geffen Galleries—an ambitious project aimed at reimagining the presentation of LACMA’s extensive collection through a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary lens.

The guest list was as impressive as the conversation, featuring notable figures such as Marisa Chearavanont, Pansy Ho, Ji-Eun Kim, Wesley Ng and Audrey Ou, among others.

This event marked not only a celebration of LACMA’s future but also its far-reaching global influence. With the David Geffen Galleries on the horizon, the museum continues to position itself as a hub for dialogue—bridging communities from Los Angeles to Asia and beyond.
