Collectors, curators and Tatler friends were out in full force for the preview of Southeast Asia’s largest contemporary art fair
As part of Singapore Art Week, an annual islandwide celebration of the visual arts, Art SG returned to the Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Marina Bay Sands last weekend. The biggest contemporary art fair in Southeast Asia featured 114 galleries from 33 countries and territories across the globe.

“The second edition of Art SG, represents a further step in the evolution of the art scene in Asia,” says Magnus Renfrew, co-founder of Art SG. “Our exhibitors share our view that Southeast Asia is a crucial market that is developing rapidly, and we are thrilled to work with them and our stakeholders … to bring the international art world to the region.”

Discerning art collectors and curators flocked to Marina Bay Sands, with some flying in from Europe, the US, Australia and Japan specially for the occasion. Our Tatler friends were also among the esteemed guests at the fair’s VIP preview and vernissage held on January 18.

They spent the afternoon strolling across the expansive two-floor exhibition while catching up with friends and fellow art lovers over bubbles at the Ruinart Art Bar (which featured works by David Shrigley), and scotch at the Royal Salute booth in the fair’s VIP Lounge.

Asia’s Most Stylish 2023 honouree Willabelle Ong was spotted admiring the installations alongside fellow honouree Sam Chua, while heavyweights in the art scene like National Gallery Singapore’s Shareen Khattar, January cover star Eugene Tan, and renowned Singaporean artist Heman Chong were also in attendance.
