Zaha Hadid Architects debuts in Malaysia with Discovery City’s eco-forward masterplan in Johor
Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) is poised to make its first mark on Malaysia’s architectural landscape with the ambitious Discovery City masterplan, a 582-acre mixed-use development within Johor’s Ibrahim Technopolis (IBTEC). This project is not just a milestone for ZHA but also a significant moment for design in Malaysia, as the firm’s avant-garde approach will shape the future of urban planning in the region.
At the heart of Discovery City will be an RM269 million cultural centre designed by ZHA as the development’s centrepiece. This building will embody the firm’s signature fluid aesthetics and innovative use of space, setting a new standard for cultural institutions in Malaysia. The design reflects ZHA’s vision of integrating architecture with its natural context, creating a dialogue between the built environment and the landscape that is both visually striking and ecologically mindful.
