The Flamant Rose (French for “pink flamingo”) has a quirky past. Once moored on the Seine in Paris, the yacht was a base for the late French superstar Edith Piaf—famed for her signature 1947 hit La Vie En Rose—while she was on tour.

Piaf was also said to have cruised around Europe on the Flamant Rose with Marcel Cerdan, the celebrated French-Algerian boxer with whom she had a highly publicised affair in the 1940s.

Today, the yacht is based in St. Katharine Docks Marina, right by the landmarks of the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. She has held a private mooring at the docks for 25 years.

Since the Piaf days, the 1,012 sq ft, one-bedroom, two-bathroom yacht has been renovated. She has an open concept design, with plenty of space ideal for entertaining. The country-style furnishings are a nod to its past, seen across the saloon and cosy bedroom.

The OWO Residences by Raffles are located inside the Old War Office in Whitehall, a historical building with a fascinating 115-year history.

Built in Edwardian baroque style, the Grade-II listed structure was formerly the office of British prime minister Winston Churchill and various other leaders. It was also a major source of inspiration for Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels. Filming for five 007 movies took place there, including 2015’s Spectre.

Part of the legendary Raffles Hotel’s first opening in London, the 85 branded residences will be a mix of studios, sprawling family-style apartments, plus duplexes and penthouses. Inside, find en-suite bedrooms across the board, and walk-in showers with bespoke bronze shower screens. While there is no typical size for each unit, the two-bedroom residences range from 1,400 sq ft to 3,000 sq ft. The development is expected to be completed next year.

It sits on a prime piece of real estate in Central London, just a stone’s throw away from St. James’ Park, Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament.

Listing price: From £5.8million (approximately HK$62 million) for a two-bedroom apartment
Available for sale at Knight Frank and Strutt & Parker
