Deconstructing the design narrative of SONLE Residences—an exclusive show unit where surrealist art and peaceful living converge to redefine ultra-luxury residential design
Amidst the energetic pulse of Ratchadapisek Road, SONLE Residences by SC Asset emerges as a rare masterstroke reserved for just five families. The name "SONLE" blends the Thai word Son (meaning to shelter or keep a precious treasure hidden from view) with the French Soleil (sun). True to its name, the estate functions as a radiant sanctuary discreetly tucked away from the surrounding metropolis.
To establish a new benchmark for ultra-luxury living, SC Asset partnered with acclaimed practice IDIN Architects to design both the architecture and interior architecture for the Type XL show unit—crafting a residence where fine art and everyday rituals intertwine.

Spatial storytelling
The primary challenge across 1,595 square metres of living area lay in choreographing a spatial narrative that sparks the imagination upon entry. Bypassing traditional layouts, IDIN Architects embraced spatial storytelling rooted in two pivotal art movements: Impressionism and Surrealism.
Impressionist philosophy guides the interplay with natural light, where interior volumes are oriented to track the sun’s daily path—casting shifting patterns of light and shadow across surfaces throughout the day. Meanwhile, Surrealism inspires a fluid, boundary-pushing layout. By abandoning rigid room enclosures, the open floor plan creates interconnected sightlines that feel like walking through an interactive art gallery.

Introverted sanctuary
Crossing the threshold brings an immediate sense of quietude—a transition into mindful living and understated luxury. Facing a busy urban thoroughfare, IDIN Architects adopted an introverted spatial strategy, turning the architecture inward around a central green courtyard and cascading water features (Verdant Falls) that serve as a peaceful visual anchor.
Acoustic comfort matches international standards, utilizing acoustic window frames by SCHÜCO from Germany that dampen exterior street noise from 80 decibels down to a gentle 40 decibels. Inside, only the gentle sound of wind and trickling water remains—creating a serene urban sanctuary.

Tactile equilibrium
Designing a residence of this scale requires balancing dramatic architectural impact with cozy residential comfort. Embracing a "Sophisticated Modern Tropical" aesthetic, the architecture acts as a refined canvas for premium materials. Saint Laurent marble flooring—a finish favoured by global luxury fashion houses—lends weight and natural texture underfoot.
To balance the grand proportions, the team selected sculptural, curved furniture pieces from Minotti and Edra, paired with Valli & Valli door handles designed by Antonio Citterio. These tactile details introduce warmth and invitation across every room.

Aspirational lifestyle
Beyond visual appeal, the residence adapts to evolving lifestyle needs. Versatile multi-function zones cater to bespoke entertaining—including a private Omakase room for hosting guests, an in-house spa room for private therapists, and a fully equipped gym.
The master bathroom features dedicated His & Her zones, equipped with a GROHE SPA AquaSymphony system that customizes water streams, ambient light, and acoustic themes—turning daily bathing routines into a resort-grade wellness ritual.

The masterpiece
The heart of the estate resides on the second floor, designed as the primary hub for daily life. Overlooking water features and garden greenery, this level links interior living quarters with semi-outdoor recreation spaces.
Highlighting this floor is an Aquatic Infinity Edge Pool that runs parallel to the building frame, seamlessly connecting indoor lounges with semi-outdoor sun decks for quiet family afternoons or private evening events.
Embodying the design vision of SONLE Residences, this central space offers a lasting setting for family life—a home built to be cherished across generations.
