The onward march of technology has made household appliances more powerful and intelligent than ever before. Take washing machines, for example. In the past, they would be able to handle your laundry quickly, thoroughly, and gently—but only do two of these three at any one time. With the new LG AI Direct Drive Front Load Washing Machine, however, this is no longer the case.

The new washing machine boasts a suite of features that makes doing the laundry a cinch. Its headliner here is the eponymous AI DD (Artificial Intelligence Direct Drive), which doesn’t just measure a laundry load’s weight, but also the fabrics’ softness. Based on LG’s accumulated data, the wash cycle is then adjusted for each load to better protect its fabrics and extend their longevity.

Various other features complement this. TurboWash360°, for instance, uses four directional 3D multi nozzles to reach every part of the laundry for a thorough wash that’s also faster. Steam+, on the other hand, comprises an integrated steamer that enhances hygiene by killing off dust mites, while also relaxing fabrics to make them less wrinkled and easier to iron. The ezDispense feature is yet another handy feature—it dispenses the amount of detergent automatically based on a load’s weight, and takes the guesswork out of things completely.

Rounding things off are various connectivity and expansion features. The LG AI Direct Drive Front Load Washing Machine can interface with a home’s network and respond to voice commands, or be controlled and updated remotely using the LG ThinQ app. It can also provide real-time information via the same app to allow fuss-free monitoring. Finally, this washing machine can be paired with the TwinWash Mini for two different loads to be washed simultaneously.
