A tropical sanctuary in Hong Kong

This 3,100 sq ft, two-storey, three-bedroom, three-bathroom house—1,399 sq ft of which are taken up by the garage and garden—is located in the exclusive Hong Lok Yuen estate. It is home to Regina Chan and Kevin Li, who were after a homely, yet tropical, resort-inspired aesthetic. “We wanted to come home from work and feel like we’re on holiday,” says the lady of the house.

An opulent holiday home in Phuket, Thailand

Set against the backdrop of Phuket’s lush tropical hills, this private home at the exclusive Trisara resort offers views of the Andaman Sea.
The 4,700 sq ft villa’s owners wanted a fresh, light-filled, relaxing space that is in harmony with the airy, surrounding nature of indigenous vegetation and the Andaman’s ethereal waters.
A rich, dark palette is used, replacing the original orange roofs and ceilings. Warm, honeyed walnut floors are put in place of stained dark wood flooring. These design touches ground the space and act as a contrast against the white pebble walls.

A modern tropical villa on Langkawi, Malaysia

Langkawi, a hidden gem of a tropical island in Malaysia, is home to Villa Vista. Its owners discovered the island’s natural immaculate beauty on their travels—and were delighted by what they considered an authentic tropical experience, and without the excess of tourists found in other places. In 2020, they decided to look for a piece of land on Langkawi to build their home, and then developing a luxury villa with architecture inspired by the best Asian resorts, like The Datai, Amanpuri in Thailand and Four Seasons Langkawi.
Its design is inspired by vernacular Malaysian and Southeast Asian architecture—think traditional roofs, outdoor pavilions and gardens that allow for local vegetation to grow and flourish.
