When designing a new home, there is a preconceived notion that a collection takes time to build. But for design principal Pierce Jordan of Shane & Pierce, his undeniable expertise transformed the blank canvas of this 5,000-square-foot new build into a moody environment that feels deeply inviting. “I didn’t want to replicate current design trends,” he shared. “I wanted a timeless style that mixes in different eras while maintaining a cohesive, holistic viewpoint.”
This ambitious philosophy results in a remarkable space, which juxtaposes brutalist and mid-century pieces with a fireplace from the 1700s and heirloom pieces from the 1800s. Working with co-founder Evan Shane and architect Juan Carlos De Leon, the home features expansive ceilings that evoke images of grander eras, while allowing the historical pieces to infuse each room with undeniable flair.

The project’s conceptual anchor emerged during Jordan’s travels to Carrara, Italy, where he encountered distinctive marbles that would define the home’s entire aesthetic direction. Jordan’s saturated selections include Calacatta Viola slabs with beige undertones and deep red and green veins, a bold choice that established the overarching theme for the home. Historic homes in the southern United States were also a point of inspiration, creating an unexpected blend of eras that reflected his distinctive personality.
A natural progression from smaller, comfortably scaled formal rooms to more casual gathering spaces characterises the Dallas, Texas home. Within the living room stands Jordan’s favourite piece, a framed wallpaper spanning 13 feet behind the sofa. Dating back to the 1700s, he bought the piece before designing the house, conferring foundational status upon the piece. “This is an example of how important it is for design planning to begin before the design of a house, so we can make sure any heirlooms or prized pieces can be incorporated seamlessly,” he shared.
